This evening whilst driving home, my wipers stopped and then a second l8r (due to the speed i guess) were whipped by the wind over to the drivers mirror.
I've tested them and put them back in there 'at rest' position, but they are pretty floopy  .
Without taking apart the area around them - 'cos its p1$$ing down, plus i can't find my manual, anyone got an idea of what could have gone wrong - is it the motor (s) or are they linked??
I've checked the fuse and thats fine!!
cheers

I guess that one or two things might have happened. The nut holding the wiper arm to the spindle might have worked loose, or the linkage might have broken. This happened to my 2nd 200SX, one of the ball and socket joints had worn and popped out

It was about a half hour job and a new complete linkage from Nissan, I can't remember exactly how much it was, but I'm sure it was around £35 ish.

It's usually the linkage - iirc there's a ball and socket type thingy that tends to wear, then comes apart, leaving the wipers flapping all over the place. Also iirc it's a right pain to get to - a search will no doubt confirm :)

search on threads by me - i had the same problem within24 hours of buying mine (on a torrential drive down the A12.....)

removing and refitting the wiper motor is a nightmare because of all the crap in the way

but the part is cheap :D

It's the linkage :)

I can't remember how much it was, but it wasn't ball-breaking, as dexter says.

The main pain in the ar$e is lining everything up....run a search for this, 'cos I don't have the links anymore.

If you need more info then *somewhere* I have the link for the parts etc...but I haven't a clue whether it's on this pc or the work pc...give me a day or two notice & I can prolly come up with the part no :)

Well its stopped raining enough for me to get to work and strip it all out!! After removing the :furious: trim, i found the linkage arm from the motor hanging around ....
I re-attached the linkage arm onto the ball joint and started the wipers, they work fine ......

HOWEVER ....

After reading everyone's post's on the subject, i think i would be advised to get a wiper linkage arm as there are no 'white' plastic bits on either the ball joint or the female part of the joint?? Would this be correct?

This happened on mine and I fixed it and it's been fine since (fingers crossed).

There should be a white cup on the top arm and a copper coloured ball on the bottom arm. Mine kept popping back out until I figured out theres a rubber sleave that slips over it all when it's assembled  With that back on, it's been fine since :)

Thanks Dave, i did exactly that, so fingers crossed, only thing is, i lost the screw that goes through the trim (next to the passenger's wiper)

Never mind eh? :)
