Hello peeps, after having investigated my supposed turbo>manifold gasket leak I have found that the leak is actually from the turbo>turbo elbow gasket.

I appear to have lost one of the bolts  that fix the elbow to the turbo and another has worked its way loose.

what I want to know is should there be 3 bolts fastening the elbow to the turbow? and should I remove the rest of the bolts and replace the old bolts with new and do the gasket while I am there?

and are these bolts likely to snap off and cause me heartache

There should be 5 holding it on and they are studs and nuts. I would probably replace them although I would imagine its easier with the turbo off the car. Might as well upgrade to a decent elbow if you are going to take it off.

I lost one nut from my elbow. Once you have initially undone the bolt etc, they will probably be finger tight. I would be supprised if you managed to snap something! The manifold to head studs are different matter though :(
