View Full Version : Apexi air filter
Just bought an Apexi from Ken which will be going on this weekend....I just wondered if it was best to give it a clean b4 I fit it? I know these filters don't need regular cleaning like K&N's etc but would it be a good idea to give it a wipe down or something?
Any ideas??
Cheers!
Compressed air is about the only thing I would risk on one of these

Blowing from inside to out ;)
Cheers guys....don't have access to any compressed air at the moment so think I'll just bolt it on...cheers for the info though.
they are not really supposed to be cleaned more replaced after 20k miles ;)

What about the local garage ?? You blow your tyres up with compressed air so give your filter a quick once over whilst there. JOBS A GOOD UN !!!!
True....might give that a go...although to be honest, it is pretty damn clean....am sure Ken looked after it so it probably doesn't need it. Just wondered if there was anything I could do to make sure it was nice and clean before I fitted it....
Might give the local garage a visit tomorrow morning though....
Right, it's on and the car seems to be running just fine....no problems there.
Did just wonder though, what kind of noise should I be hearing from the filter. My past experience with induction kits and air filters on other cars has led me to believe it's a kind of roar of air...quite deep. However, on the 200 I seem to get quite a refined hiss as the engine sucks in air....is this normal or have I messed up the fitment? :smash:
hiss at low revs, hiss then roaaaaaar when caning it :)
Excellent....cheers Vez... ....at least I know it's on right.
Haven't tried the caning it bit....but am sure I will soon enough...LOL....
I can start thinking of the next mod then....decats I think....

I took the advice off the board and fitted a Apex de-cat pipe and cat-back Apex exhuast and what a BIG :wack: difference. Plenty of bang for your buck but my turbo gaskets failed shortly after this  .
