I have acquired a set of 17" alloys, and i have measured the width of the rim to be 8". The current rubber on there is 215 / 45 /17, and they have come off a 200sx. What rubber would people recommend to go there, and what tyre inflation pressure? :)
cheers

Go 225/45/17 on the front and 245/40/17 on the back.

I run 36psi in mine, I think. 32psi seems too soft now. Mind, with 245's on the front, the higher the pressure, the less work the power steering pump seems to have to do.

Whell the recomended size for my 17*7's is 215 45 R 17 so the tyres that were on there were a bit under sized. Probably made the cheaper the by as a pacage when new.

Well the 8" was measured from the outside of the outside of the rim to the outside of the inside of the rim - would that be correct? if you know what i mean? :) :)

no, thats not how you measure a wheel. Its measured at the bead seat point. They usually come stamped with the wheel size on the inside of the spokes.

Funnily enough i was looking for a 7.5 or 8 mark, but couldn't find them anywhere? I guess its likely to be 7.5 then???
I'll go and check and come back with the definitive number!!!!

cheers Guys

you will be ok with 255/40x17 on 8" rims.I have them all round, used to have 225/45's on the front as they had less tendency to aquaplane in heavy rain but it was costing me loads in rear tyres so now I have the 255/40's all round so that I can front to back them to even out the tyre wear and save my wallet a little!
My car is lowered on hks springs and the wheel offset is et42 with 20mm spacers (so effectively et22) and I have no problems with clearance - just loads and loads of grip :D

Sounds like you may only have 7" wide rims in which case I would go for 225/45's all round

Friggin eh JC - 255's!!!! oh well ...

Just measured, thanks to JSF's chart and the distance is 7", so what can i have then? 215 / 45 ?
I will be lowering it in the fututre with some Tein's ?? Any thoughts!? :D

I would go with 225/45's all round on a 7" rim - almost identical rolling radius to the std 16" tyres and if you keep the same size all round you will be able to swap them front to rear every so often to even the wear
