Can;'t mod my dads volvo stereo to run out pre amp lines. The amp circuit is integrated into the circuit board and I don't reckon I can work out where to disconnect the amps from?

Someone suggested taking the signal from the head unit which is amplified and then sticking it through a voltage divider so the DSP can be incorporated into the system. What exactly is a voltage divider and how do they fit? Do they cost alot. i can't find any on the online stereo shops.

Yes, I've seen these things before.
They basically take the amplified output of the head unit and converts it into a low voltage output that can be fed back into the input of a DSP/AMP. Its basically for head units that don't have RCA outs.
Last time I saw them was in Halfords, but I can't remember how much they were. Can't imagine them being more than £30 for a pair.

Depends if you go for 2 channel or 4 channel Voltage Divider.

And also if you for a Voltage Divider that can run off Bridge Amplifer Outputs (The High Powered Head Units)

Pioneer do one and it cost about a tenner for 2 channel and 20 quid for the 4 channel.

BTW. It was me that suggested this
I think they only do a 2channel one now.. Number is RD-SR520

Kenwood do the KVD-840 that is £35 and that is a 4 channel Voltage Divider
