Uprated brakes.

Ok guys, I had a scare today. I have no probs getting the speed up, but I can't get it down quick enough.

I need to know what my options are, and more importantly how much is this going to cost me.

I don't mind paying, but I want good results, I hear the 300zx brakes can be adapted. Anyone?

Jezz_s13 had a set of zx calipers for sale a while ago, don't know if he still does:confused:
They bolt straight on to the old mounts, also requires some new hoses (£25 from Bren) and probably new pads. If your going to use the origonal discs then you'll need to shim the new pads with the plate of off an old set of pads to stop the pistons popping out.
I'm currently planning the same upgrade and am waiting for the hoses to be made.

S14 four pots will go straight on. Youll need 280mm discs though. The only problem is that the S14 280mm discs are 30mm wide but the later S13 280mm discs are only 22mm wide.

This means that if you fit the S13 discs you have to run spacers behing the pads so that the pistons dont fall out of the caliper when the pads wear down.

Or if you go for thicker S14 discs youll find that they are drilled in a five stud pattern that wont fit the S13. Theres two ways round this. One is to re-drill the disc which sounds dodgy as hell but apparenty works just fine OR you can buy S14 discs drilled with the S13 114x4 stud pattern. These discs arent cheap however, I only know one company who can do this and their grooved discs are £187 a pair.

I think the above info is 100% accurate, feel free to jump in if Ive made a mistake :)

But you said later S13's ran 22mm wide discs, whereas S14's are 30mm..

What about early S13's?? What thickness are they?!!:)
Mine is 1990.
