since turning the boost up to 15psi the clutch is slipping at about 4k to 5k ive tried turning the boost back down to 12-13psi with no avail. Are they adjustable or does someone want to quote me for a new clutch. How much power is the standard one good for? :(
Feck Andy, youve got the worst luck when it comes to your motor!

nevermind **** happens, everybody feel sorry for me and give me a good price and availability
I think I may need a new clutch as well, see tech s13: thrust bearing?, could we get a bigger discount if we got 2 clutch's at the same time?

maybe worth a go!! :)
I can do an S14 AP clutch kit for £275. Not especially cheap because theres nothing in AP products but cheaper than most :)
Jimbo,
Ive some LUK clutch kits here ready to go for £135 complete :)

if im not expecting more than 300bhp would it be better for a standard one or will the standard one not cope with 290ish(my dream before summer)
I couldnt say what the standard clutch is good for??

A standard clutch wouldnt cope with that sort of HP. Definatey go for an uprated jobbie. ACT is what I'm after, just got to confirm that it fits a CA18 and that I can get one shipped over from the US.
What sort hp is the luk clutch good for?
I've just started modding and if it's only good for std hp then I may as well get an uprated one.
Bren, have thought about setting some hire purchase arrangements? :D i could get an ic as well then.
jimbo,
Actually I have :D Youd end up paying 30% interest though which is definately NOT a good thing! :(
Sorry, didnt answer your question. The Cossy equivilent will run upto 350bhp but I dont know what the 200 vesrion will take...
30%
I'll give you a call about the luk, what sis the carriage charge on the thing?

Changing gear generally! :D
Jimbo,
Yeah I know but thats what the finance companies who would cover the hire purchase charge :(
Carriage is £9.
Bean,
Oh ha ha! Very drole ;) :p

ANSWER MY EMAIL!!!! :p
Bren, i have to check with my mechanic
as to when he can fit the new clutch, so I'll call you asap, also how much for a new cam belt and set of normal spark plugs?
Bean,
Maybe you should check your mail before coming on here shouting ;)
jimbo,
Cambelt is around £22 and will be a Drayco (v.good), plugs depends on what you fancy but a set of NGK BCR8ES will set you back £8.

I fitted a LUK clutch about 2 months ago and its great so far, bit of a bitch to fit without a hoist though. If its slipping at 4k plus as mine was its probably worn down to the rivets, change it soon before you get stranded, and lumped with a breakdown charge.
What other options are there for the S14?
I notice you sell LUK kits for the S13, are they any good and can you get them for the S14?
I might need a new clutch in the coming months.

I looked into this when I had mine done, have a look at Clutch choices (http://www.sxoc.com/cgi-bin/200sx/UBB/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=3&t=000400)
Went for the AP one in the end and love it :)

Bren is the Cusco one likely to be cheaper/better than the AP Racing one?
LUK are excellent quality for the money. Ive also got S14 kits in stock at the same price, £135 a piece :)
I couldnt say wether the Cusco item is better than the AP one but Id be very suprised if it was cheaper! :)

Do you know how much power they are good for?
I'll need one to withstand at least 300bhp! :D

if that'll handle bout 300bhp ill deffo have one casue im being quoted 200 quid to fit a clutch at the mo!!!
Well the Cossy ones take 350bhp ok but Ive no experience with them in 200s so cant give a figure. Id expect them to handle 300bhp with ease but I really cant guarentee that.

I'm off to email LUK. :)
LUK rate their clutches as being able to handle 40% more torque with no trouble BUT they dont claim that publicly. I.e. they wont gaurentee that but their tests prove thats what performance they are capable of handling :)
Did anyone come up with prices for an S14 clutch in the end?
Someone mention ACT clutches, got any details? :)
I've traced the odd sound my car is making to the clutch :(
Is the LUK clutch £135 by any chance. Just it seems to come up several times in this thread. lol :D
By the way, the carriage is £9. ;)
How much power can that take?

Cheers, but it won't handle the power levels I have planned for the car.
Anything else? I'll let you look into it.
Cheers. :)
An AP fast road would be £280 and will handle 300bhp just fine :)

Have you got any more details on this clutch?
I don't want an on/off paddle clutch. :)
Any other makes not quite as expensive, ACT, Cusco etc...? Or am I just being a tight git?
Its not a paddle its an organic kit. They are fine with regards to biting point and Ive no complaints with the one in my Cossy. They are not like a switch as with the paddle clutches.
I dont know anyone else doing a cheaper clutch other than LUK.

OK thanks, I just need to confirm that it's the clutch at fault and not the gearbox.
I'll be in touch soon no doubt.
Likewise Bren,
As soon as Bean has diagnosed his car I will know exactly whats wrong with mine too!
Gonna want the LUK clutch probably.
All on you Mr Bean Sir....

I'd go for a LUK clutch as well if I was confident it would hold 300bhp reliably.
I might post the outcome of my Nissan visit over the weekend, then again I may well spend the whole time getting s h i t faced, commiserating. :(
FINGERS CROSSED.

So it's the organic one as opposed to their cerametallic jobbie?
A few people now have advised me stay clear of the cerametallic version.
What was the price again, £25 inc. delivery? :D
I've just had a look on the AP site and the clutch for the S14 is only rated up to 284lb/ft torque.
I thought the LUK was reputed to handle an extra 40% power anyway, which would be around 280lb/ft torque as well.
Bren, what options am I left with? I really can't afford to pay £300 for a clutch and another £200 having it fitted!!!
Are there any clutch/cover combinations available?
I've been looking at th ACT clutches and they can hold 360lb/ft torque but I can't find a supplier or a price. :(
I might be able to do an LUK clutch kit with AP plate for around £220 if thats any better?

I'm interested, please ring me ASAP so I can get a clutch ordered.
I might be able to get someone to fit it for me this weekend.
