View Full Version : Anyone interested in big brakes

bren

I might be developing a big brake kit but need to gauge demand. The S13 kit would utilise 300zx calipers and would consist of 310mm rotors, bells, brackets and hardware to suit.

The kit would cost around £425.

Anyone interested?

Minimum Wheel size required to fit these would be??

Thanks.

i would be interested, sure most people would be, i was looking more a 17inch alloy minimum with skyline r33 calipers, with alloy bells and rotors to suit, including braided brake lines, spacers and fittings....

that i would deffo be interested in... ;) :D

I may be interested in the near future! after i get an engine that is! :D will the kit be complete with pads hoses ect? and what will the price be for replacement rotors when there required? Bren thats not a bad price if its a complete kit!

how much for just bells & rotors----------------------------------sciboat ;)

Jonh,

£425.

matt,

I need to get one fixed formaula because Im going to have to go out and buy the calipers, buy the rotors and buy the hub so my guy can machine up the bells and brackets. Theres no way Im going to do that for a load of different kits as it would end up costing me a fortune!! :D

Tricky,

Hoses are a probably, pads are a no. It wouldnt be worth doing if I was sticking £70+ pads in as well.

Rotors will be around £180 the pair, maybe cheaper.

Sciboat,

As above its difficult unless we go for one formula as my guy needs the caliper, hub and rotor to make each bell and bracket kit up. once hes done one he can knock them out no problem but if we change the caliper he has to start from the beginning again.

Youre turbos going today btw. It arrived at late last night with a load of other stuff Id ordered so I havent had time to check it yet. Assuming its upto my standards youll get it tommorrow :)

Interesting!

Would you also sell parts of the kit for the guys who have already installed the 300ZX calipers or got them waiting for install (like me)

I guess you will utilize the cast iron calipers, not the smaller alloy ones off the NA 300ZX????

the cast iron ones are for 30mm discs, the alloy ones for 26mm (and they tend to warp I've heard)

bren

The kit would only include bells, rotors, barckets and maybe braided lines so youd have to soruce your own calipers anyway.

Any yes the kit would be designed around the wider 300 calipers :)

The rotors would be wider (30mm) so you wouldnt have to use spacers behind the pads :)

There are both alloy and cast iron calipers that suit 30mm discs.

any word on this dude? was just thinking that when people uprate their alloys they dont tend to go to 16's motly 17's, a couple 18's and a a mental alex waterf with 19's :D :D so maybe it makes more sense to get the biggest upgrade possible for some 17's (apologies to any 16in wheel owners who's toes i may well be treading on ;))

I'm just thinking that the guys looking at a good kit will be 270bhp and above, and there apeear to be more and more of these people nowadays with goals set at 300+bhp....might make some sense to have a good brake set-up with it ;) :D :D

cheers
Matt

There is a guy in Max Power (I think) with a 600bhp S13 still on std brakes & discs.

Bren, don't know if you knew but:

This kit will also fit the S14, allowing people to use larger disks with the standard calipers.

The skyline GTR disks and calipers are a straight bolt on for both the S13 and S14, so in theory they could be used with your spacers and appropriate size rotors (the GTR calipers require new mounting bolts with a coarser thread).

The S14/300zx brake hose attachments are also the same as the GTR ones, so any S13 owners will be able to swap from 300zx to GTR calipers without changing brake hoses.

You could probably get bells made up that are drilled for 4 and 5 stud fitting.

Ben :)

Yeah It was in Max Power ages ago. A S13 running 600bhp. How comes mine is not at that sort of power. On standard brakes he is just a nutter, or drives like my sister.

So how many people would be interested in a rotor, bell and bracket kit to allow say 330mm rotors with 300 calipers?

Or would you prefer R33 calipers (although they must be a nightmare to get hold of!?).

ME ME ME! yes i'm after a kit for the r33 calipers on 17inch wheels, with braided hoses, rotors and bells and brackets/caliper mounts.

yes r33 calipers will be tough but hey, surely either Nismo Jai and jrpidgeon who are bringing stuff over from Japan will be able to find something and not too expensive either.....

r33 calipers need to be checked under wheels tho cos i know matt_s can get them under his momo gt2's no probs whereas some people have wheels that wont allow even the s14/300zx brakes under theirs without spacers

keep me posted mate ;)

Could you gives us options.

Say 330mm Disks and different Calipers, like the AP caliper?

bren
08-03-2002, 08:59
antmcp,

This is what Im saying, options will be very very difficult because everytime someone changes just one parimeter Ive got to go and buy the whole kit so my guy can set everything up once more to accomodate the changes.

Is that in the latest issue? i bet 600bhp actually = 240bhp + 360bhp imaginary power..lol

Unless its one from Japan:P

Was that the Gold S13 featured a couple of years back ???. If so it was a 180SX brought in from Japan. Quite frightening figures it was putting out and they didn't even have it running max boost if I remember correctly !. If this car is still in the UK, it must be the quickest S13 in the land and not one ND part upgrade to be seen on it!

Mad Man Dan
13-03-2002, 14:24
Yeah, I had it sprayed from gold to grey though! ;)

matt_j
26-03-2002, 12:22
how about this then mate? you have good demand for it so can you sort something? the last impression i got was for 300zx/s14 calipers......

and this was for us to find the calipers....which is a good idea:D

and the price would be for....
*Rotors and Bells to fit under 17inch wheels (i think)
*Bracket/spacer to mount caliper
*Dot 5.1 or summit brakefluid
*Brake pads (if needed i guess)
*Braided Brake hoses adapted ofr s13 to calipers

HOW MUCH!
COME ON BREN! WE NEED THESE! are the rotors gonna be grooved or drilled, dunno if i quite fancy drilled given certain reports of them.....

cheers mate
Matt

bren

Ok, the rough price for:

310 grooved rotors
Brackets
Bells
Pads
Braided hoses
Racing brake fluid.

Would be £425. If you want 330s then the price jumps to £525 :(

Im trying to find the rotors at a better price as thats where the cost lies.

"Anyone interested in big blokes" ...

Well £525 for 330mm discs - somewhat cheaper than the currently displayed £1200 from the ND workshop!

Yeah. I found that it was a little too much power as I have a particularly heavy right foot ;) So, I thought I would bung an ND 270 on it for Mon-Fri, and then every weekend I change the engine for the Top Secret one
