Just buy two cheap and nasty PCI network cards and some ethernet cable, half a hour and your done.

When you say PCI NETWORK CARDS do you mean ISDN PCI network adaptors. If not how much are they. These "cheap and nasties" http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/wink.gif

Ethernet (co-ax cable) PCI cards cost about £10 - £15.
http://www.simply.co.uk/shop/dept.asp?intDeptId=12118&page=1&manf=ALL&show=PAGED

and change the order to show cards in ascending price.

you can get 10/100 cards for about £10, dlink and stuff like that. try www.dabs.com (http://www.dabs.com) , simply... goto www.computerprices.co.uk (http://www.computerprices.co.uk) does a search of components to find cheapest price.

if you go this way you need a cross over UTP cable to just connect two machines without a hub.

Jezz.

If you're using windows you've got all the software you need to network the PCs easily - though the network adapter driver disk may be useful.

You can get either PCI or ISA network cards - depends on which slots are free in your PCs. To minimise problems, I recommend that you buy two identical adapters. PCI ones will be plug n play which may make installation easier.

Most adapters come with a range of connectors on the back e.g. RJ-45, BNC...
BNC networks don't need a hub - you can do simple peer - to - peer networking. However, I don't think its as fast as some of the ethernet network systems. If you're hoping to share an internet connection this isn't an issue as all netowkring systems seem to be much faster than a modem, even ISDN.

EMail me if you have problems...

Once your LAN is running, you could save some money by having just one PC use ISDN and have it route data for the other PC(s) on your LAN. Windows ME comes with Internet Connection Sharing software, maybe XP does too, and there are other programs that do this.

Not such a good idea if both PC are already using the ISDN pretty much 100% or your using the links for something other than Internet access.

Yeah thats what i had in mind mate. I`ve got Midpoint Gateway here and it reckons it will "team" any lines together on a LAN. Whether it be ISDN+ISDN or ISDN+Analogue etc etc. Says you can browse with that combined bandwidth or use it as a sort of download accelerator as it splits a file you want to download and takes a piece down each connection and then re-assembles the file on your PC. I tell ya i`ve just had my first online game with my ISDN connection and i Kicked ass. I was on TFC and i came 2nd out of about 15 on our team . Cant believe the difference.

Dave - Creating a LAN will not allow you to do your dodgy 2 ISDN channel thingy with BT internet.. All you will be doing is setting up your 2 computers as a simple lan setup, and will be using your original PC as a Proxy machine. It will connect EXACTLY as it does now, but will accept requests for web pages etc from the other box.. Your maximum connection speeds etc WILL NOT change! (As it will be limited by the normal UNCHANGED dial-up of the physically connected machine.

Save yourself some money.. try ralking to Demon.co.uk I'm sure they did some kinda Dual unlimited ISDN dial-up thingy..

Hope this helps!

No mate i`m just really going to have 2 PC`s and 2 ISP`s at 64k each. I wanted to make a LAN between the 2 so
1. I can use that Midpoint to download with the 2 lines combined (thats what it claims it can do).Or to have one PC/ISDN line/ISP downloading all the time and browsing and working on the other.

2. Me and somoeone can play games against each other on the 2 PC`s or go online together and kick ass http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/wink.gif

On that ISPreview site there`s not a very high opinion of that Demon. I`ll keep an eye on them though cheers bud.

I have two machines linked at the moment - this one and a laptop. the laptop has the internet connection (64k isdn). It also contains my firewall program so internet goes into laptop through firewall and onto this machine. I do see what your trying to do though - you got bt 128k isdn two lines then?
By the way you will need a CROSSOVER cable to connect the two pc`s dont bother trying any other lead i.e. normal network cable(rj45) coz it wont work unless you got a hub/switch etc. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif ok?

Right i`ve got a DIVA isdn pci card now.
And the good news is it says on the box and through their support line that you CAN have 2 simultaneous connections running on just one of these cards. What i need to do is install a second "Dial up adapter" in windows 98se. Only they wont show me how to do that cos its a windows issue and microsoft wont because i got windows with my PC and not off them , W***ers! Thanks a lot microsoft.

Can anyone run me through how to install a second "Dial up adaptor"
I`ve tried it through control panel/network but it says there`s a problem with it after i install.

(roaring) YYYYYYYYYYEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!!! Done it!
I am now BROWSING with both isdn lines and downloading with both isdn lines. I am d`ling at 16kbps. Compared to approx 3.5 with my modem.
I have 2 unlimited access accounts with freeserve so i`ll be d`ling all day and night
Freeserve operator guided me through instaling the 2nd Dial up adaptor.
I installed my Midpoint software , configured relatively painlessly and Wallop!
I`ve got 2 little isdn tv`s blinking away at me in bottom right.
Just downloaded that Skyline v Rx7 vid in the link above. 16kbps. The windows download screen was only 1/2 way through and the dl stopped. Because Midpoint had took 2 i/2`s of it down each line. Yippee!

So what you've done is subscribe to Freeserve twice, and as a result you can get 128k? Me must do...

Dam right!
Its taken a lot of plugging away but it DOES work.
One thing you must know though is when i had installed the second dial up adaptor and i went into Dial up networking and configured 2 connections to each dial up adapter i opened IE and noticed although 2 connections open only one was being used cos everything uses your default connection. You`ll need software like Midpoint to use both lines for you.

Ahh - and bugger. I have an ISDN router which I obviously cannot install the midpoint software onto, so I reckon I'm stuffed. Ah well...
