Yes, the Supra six is in a different league. It's more powerful, smoother, easier to tune.....and far, Far, FAR heavier. When you have a lightweight 2.0 that can be tuned up to the limit of the class you're racing in (ie GT500), then why leave the heavy 6-pot when you can

a) Lose weight by fitting a smaller engine of the same power, and
b) Move the centre of gravity back a couple of feet, improving handling.

It's quite common for 2.0's to be fitted into Supra's, although it's usually the Toyota 2.0 (as found in the MR2 Turbo).

Isn't that Top Secret's Supra?

That thing is effing fast! Not really a pointless engine swap... you should see it fly! http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif

If you're thinking of the Gold one as features in Lacks Power then no, that wasn't a 2.0. That one had a RB26DETT Skyline lump bored out to 2.7 Their reason for that was that apparently the 2JZ-GTE engine had just too much torque at low rpm, and was (even more) undriveable in day-to-day use.
