In my opinion SE are crap

Sorry to offend anyone who like them but I have just got off the phone with Matt_S and there is maybe a 1% chance that his car will be ready for Billing. There have been numerous excuses and reasons but they are all boll0cks. It still doesnt run and it hasnt got any paint on it. Bastids.

I feel like bitch slapping Pete till he bleeds from every orifice.

not excusing it but they have had a pretty bad run of luck recently and believe me, there is no-one more keen at the moment to finish jobs than pete - he's up to his eyes in cars and is working a lot harder than id like to imagine to get em all out.

And hey, this comes from a guy who's car SE have had for some 3 months, just to strip the bottom end and rebuild!

like i say no excuses, but extenuating circumstances

Bollox extenuating circumstances!!! They shouldn't undertake such a workload if they can't cope with it, or they shouldn't tell people that their car will be ready and then it isn't. If I were Matt, or anyone having work done there, I'd have had a written aggreement done stating the time scale and would have a clause stating the amount of reduction on the bill for every day they go over the time scale.

I certainly won't use them again, cos in my opinion they're CRAP.

Just to add something here also. When I first got the car, they fitted several things for me, including my Turbo Timer, which Abbey had to solder in 'cos SE couldn't be bothered and it was only intermittently working. When they did this, they also installed my TC system and in the process, managed to break half the screw locators in the dash trim. The cables are also so short that it's very difficult to get the dash apart without pulling on them!

I'm not even mentioning the bit about them not checking the fuelling when they fitted my induction, de cat and zorst. I'm not blaming them entirely, but they didn't help by not doing their job properly as other tuners I've spoken to said they would have at least checked it.

Now everyone here knows that my loyaltees regarding garages are with Abbey, but that's not why I post this. I'm thanking my lucky starts I didn't give the car to SE when the engine needed work last June/July, I doubt I'd have it back now!

    Point accepted and valid mate.......

Dont get me wrong, im not entirely impressed with the work done on my car to date - i mean, i took it to em with a "whatever's wrong, fix it, and give it back to me when its perfect" attitude. so far its been in and out of there more times than i can count!

But the main thing that annoys me is the "i'll call you straight back" line that i get all the time - and then no return call. It takes so long to get a straight answer.

so no, im not their most satisfied customer, but then i understand that when things get outta control it can be very difficult to pull urself back up to scratch - certainly happens a lot in my industry (insurance) and thats all deadline based cos you cant let ppl go past their renewal dates. And believe me its very difficult to turn work away whatever industry youre in, its all money remember!

But then im defending them again, sorry!

SE aren't the only 'specialists' that promise a timescale and then miss it repeatedly. These companies may be busy but that doesn't give them the right to treat customers badly.

Can you imagine taking your car in for a service at a normal garage and then being told it might be ready next week ?

What can you say about people who are willing to spend their last to have their car off the road 50% of the time.
This is a special kind of sickness we all have, and these guys know it!

Right, I know jack all about cars, but, in all honesty, the only garage/supplier I will continue to use (as long as the parts I want are available.) is Bren.

(This excluses Abbey, and SE in this instance, as I haven't had the pleasure, nor displeasure of either).

What we need is a centralised reliable, courteous, Jap car specialist, that will not take on more than can be handled, keeps customers up to date, and does not repeatedly speak bull**** deadlines, and so forth.

My car is.. slowly self destructing at the moment (Of which I will post in a second, might be nothing, but I'm concerned..) and I'm pretty sure it's down to such humongous bodges, which I paid top whack for the inconvenience.

You've caught me on a bad day, and the fact I can smell my brakes smouldering from, ooooh a good 40 yards away is just making me dizzy

So, I know nothing about motors, but know how to treat people courteously and with compassion, especially as I know how much these cars mean to people, so.. who wants to start a business?

That is a real sh1tter about Matts car. He phoned me up the other day telling me that his car had a chance to be at Billing. I'm not shocked that it won't be from my experiences with SE a 2 week job turned out to be 9 months so there time assesment is pretty sh1te. I had a good long chat with Pete the other day about the fitting of forged pistons to my car, well after him telling me I would be looking at £2800 and a three week turn around time I was thinking that sounds a long time as every other company I have spoken to has said 1 week. Even if I did take it to SE I would bet my car on it that they wouldn't do it in the time they said. The thing about the message returning really gets on my t1ts aswell. No sh1t they must have taken my number down at least 30 times and they have never once retuned a call, I bet they never even bother to write my number down, either that or they have some lixdexic c unt taking messages. Having said all this they always seem to have an endless flow of buisness so maybe we are all in the minority as Ashley, Barry and many others seem very happy with the work they carry out.

SE suck ass, they can't keep a time scale, twice Matt has been let down by them, he missed the TSC and now Billing, at this rate he won't make it to the rolling road day at SCA!

Most places take 2-3 days to do a respray at SE its 2-3 months and thats if the car doesn't get nicked from the car park.

No experience of taking a car there, but i remember back when the board was in pre vbb days, this debate had started back then... im in no position to comment other than i DID ring SE once, about samco hoses, someone said they will ring me back. Well.... its around 15months now...

didnt pete post here once ages ago to dispell some rumours/slagging?

Sorry to hear about matts car, its very easy for workshops to take cars in and keep them there until *they* are ready to work on them. And places like that have you over a barrel with yer pants down. If its drivable, then why dont a few chaps go and collect it and take it "elsewhere" to be painted? might make a good point, especially since SE hired a part time painter? - how inspiring is that to hear? for all people know he could paint subway walls as his full time job..

Thats the problem, it isnt driveable.

When Matt had it back briefly before it went in for the respray the speedo/rev counter/ABS didnt work. With Petes attempts to sort out these minor problems, the car doesnt start anymore.

BUT, good news!! Apparently the car got sprayed last night after hours. The laquer will be going on today and hopefully Saturday will be spent getting the thing running and putting the front and rear screens back in. So hopefully it will be at Billing for Sunday. Perhaps. Maybe. If hes lucky.

    So close....

But still a bit to do

Ive just come from SE. The car has been painted and looks superb in its new colour. All the panels are back on minus a few things like mirrors etc. These are now drying after a coat of Standox

Im going up again later to see if I can start cleaning the interior and the wheels etc.
Hopefully it will be all ok for Pete to strt making it work later this evening. I had a chat with him and he thinks its gonna take 2-3 hours to get it back to the same as it was when I drove it in to have all the engine swap related troubles sorted, back in May!!!

But, I cant keep it a secret any more, so Im saying. Check the sig below.....

Hope to see you guys with my car. If not, lookout for the grumpy guy in a Focus (even my company car is still in the bloody bodyshop after a dozy cow drove into it two weeks ago )

    Laters peeps.....

Don't include me, took them nearly a week to change my tyre

However, I do know, that they are focussing more on Zeds and GTiRs, because that is where the money is.... s othe 200 is coming second there.

I have on the whole been happy with the work done there, maybe I'm lucky... My engine swap was turned around in 4 days, sorry to rub it in Matt, it isn't intended.

One thing to remember, is that Matt's car is a one off. God knows how much work has gone into it, and I don't think we should underestimate that. Granted they could and should have had it done sooner.... hell, I don't expect to get my engine back unti lthe new year, but at least that gives me time to get the cash together for it.... And then I will be soooooo happy.

See you at Billing guys, just about finished cleaning the car.

Got to find a way to wire my laptop into my ICE, so I can play some earsplitting Porn DVDs

But then again, I've had a thought. If none of you go to SE, they'll have more time to spend on my car.
