You only need two tools in life - wd-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the wd-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
And if you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem!
Me too! i was removing the carbon canister tomorrow, now im not coz its bad for the enviroment! I thought you could remove cc when you decatted it?
Its not that its bad for the enviroment read what Rud has put..
Catch can on mine is in the place of the standard solonoid thingy which has been removed and replaced with a apex device!
mine hisses with cc on..not always tho-mb depends on atmospherics
It does cause pollution by releasing unburnt hydrocarbons into the atmosphere rather than allowing them to be consumed by the engine.
There is no performance benefit to removing this tank at all.
so s anyone got any pics of the pipes blocked up at the inlet manifold?
also, my dump valve comes off one of the pipes on the inlet manifold so is this related to the removal of the carbon canister?

afaik the 2 pipes that come from the bottom of the inlet plentum are lines that produce vacuum as the engine sucks in air. one runs to my actuator the other is blocked with a piece of pipe and a bolt.
to clear this up then, which pipes marked here are blocked up then? thought id post a pic also so that people can use this as reference aswell.
Dont think I'll bother taking mine off, it's under the stock airbox intake anyways, which I left on to try to shove more air into the K&N!
ok FTL actually as my piping just melted :<
taking canister out in a min once i figure out if i have enough rubber hose laying about.
i think the catch can may have something to do with my boost leak, this thread was a bit confusing, can some one list the pros and cons in a straight forward way for catch can removal
Catch cans aren't fitted as standard, carbon cans are - is that what you mean?
sorry yes the carbon can
No advantage to removing it. Only reason people do is to save weight (the really anal ones who are obsessed) but more usually to fit a catch tank in the space it vacates.
Removing it means you'll vent a few bits of petrol vapour directly to the atmosphere. Not a big deal but Nissan designed it to be responsible and keep emissions down.
If you have a FMIC, you'll need a catch tank to protect your investment and that should be the trigger to deciding whether to remove the carbon canister. Otherwise - ignore it.
Just re-read your original post. What makes you think the carbon canister is responsible for your boost leak?

ive checked and rechecked all the intercooler pipework, all sopt on, all new from apex 300 miles ago, some one said on another post that they had foun there boost leak to be coming from the carbon can pipework, cant see where else it could come from
Took mine of to clean up the engine bay really, gets rid of lots of vaccum hoses all over the place.
Theres one vaccum on the inlet mani to block
Then join the two metal pipes together with the piece of vacumm hose from the carbon canister with the oneway valve like so.
Never had any problems or made any difference, just to tidy the bay up a bit really.
One pipe just runs under the car to atmosphere, so it can
trying to remove mine now... i know which pipes i need to join and which to block...
im guessing there is a 3rd nut/bolt somewhere as ive removed the top 2 but cant see anything else holding it in.....?!
dont worry, found it and removed!
