    Thumbs up Amy's Project Vade'

    Hey all

Those who don’t know me, firstly why Project Vade’?
Because Vader is my 14a’s name

Secondly, given an upcoming trip to the Nurburgring, combined with various bits I’ve already got to fit and need to get , I’ve got a fair few bits to do to Vade’, so I thought I’d make myself a little Project Thread to record my progress. (also if it’s written down publicly, it just keeps that little bit of pressure on to get it done!)

This isn’t one of the usual completely mental, mega, insane engine swap projects, out to seriously impress. Merely one where I’d like to get my car to a safe, sturdy track spec, that can be used on the roads legally, without being too stupid that it’s tricky/irritating to drive him (my car is male) on the roads
Thus I am aiming for (what I consider to be) a comfortable 400bhp (currently around 320 bhp mark iirc). (until such time that I get bored and want more ofcourse!!!) LOL

I’ve owned Vade’ for about 2 years now, (he’s my second 14a) and as you can see below, have already done a few bits & various to him as listed (list updated as this project has progressed ):

I started on one of the smaller jobs yesterday, in prep for fitting the rear roll cage, so have stripped out the rear seats & ‘belts.

I started with my trusty tools:

    This is how Vade’ was:

    Fin!

Also, does anyone who’s done this, have any magic tips as to what to fill the holes in the chassis, where the seatbelts were bolted in, that you can now see the floor through please? (don’t wanna shove silicon or similar down, as may put seats back in)…
    I was thinking blue-tack!

Iv not done it but anything stopping you putting the original bolts back in? At least that way you wont loose them, But after looking at your toolkit doesnt look like you have that problem!

The original ones are attached to the base of the seatbelts, as they secure them to the chassis. Otherwise, yeah, that's what I'd have done
& yeah, v.tidy & organised me (but then, that's what you get when a girl does things )

Does your "r" key on the keyboard intermittently not work?

Dave is correct. Tape, and lots of it. Two holes in my bootlid are currently covered with tape

Nice spec list Amy. Is this going to be a track toy or an allrounder?

Predominantly track - not sure about the Drifting Route - afraid to cock it up and stack it!

^^^ What he said. Duct-tape is brilliant! Or you can get some rubber grommets in various sizes to fill your holes. If and when you want to put the seats back in just pop them out. I have used tape, grommets and ss bolts with oversized ss washers in the past with satisfactory results each time.

I'm afraid I'm with kingj on the kit front. Not my thing but not the worst I've seen by a long way! Remember the erebuni one? Or the strange people that think vileside kits suit? But it would be dull if we all liked the same thing.

    Good work

I think the seatbelt thread size is M12x1.25 either that or possibly M11. Alot of seatbelts anchorage points have a weird thread and are designed like this to stop you putting a weak grade 4.8 or similar bolt in, as it would just shear off in an accident

    Personally tape or gromit
