PowerFC Help (Different models & Boost Controller???)

Trying to figure out what the difference between each of these PowerFC models are:
http://www.nengun.com/catalogue/category/2

The D Jetro & the first one. Apart from the fact that one uses some sort of map sensor (what's this?) instead of an AFM? Could it be cheaper to buy one of these instead of a Z32 AFM & a PowerFC..?

Also, has anyone any pics of what the PowerFC Boost Controller looks like? Trying to figure out if it looks like the AVCR or not...

Any help on this'd be REALLY appreciated!

JP

The first one is a normal PFC, the second one is a AP Engineering and can not be used with ths S14.
The D-Jetro version dont need a AFM but you need to buy the MAP sensors seperate, but its still cheaper then a normal PFC with a Z32 AFM.
This a picture with the boost controller and without my AFM

Where do the MAP sensors go though?

& does the PowerFC Boost Controller just run off the Commander or is there a separate unit like with the AVCR?

The boost settings are run through the commander mate. It gives you the option of running 4 different levels of boost control.

The MAP sensor gets tapped into the manifold as that's where it reads the Manifold Absolute Pressure.

Sounds like an expensive job, is it? Also, is it worth the extra hassle & money over an AFM you can clean & easily replace if something goes wrong..?

i'd say its more accurate, as an afm cant tell which way the air is going so it can get the wrong figures. whereas the map is in the manifold and reads pressure

Doesn't need to be expnsive at all. You can Tee it into an appropriate sized stub off the manifold. Just keep the pipework short to minimise the response time.

You can use an unused pipe off the bottom of the plenum. There are quite a few

You also need an air temp sensor with the PFC.

Don't understand mate..! How do you mean "tee" it in & any examples of a stub on the manifold? Don't quite follow how the part works (having an engineering background might help me right around now..! Lol! )

You can ask the guy that gonna 'map' your PFC to fit it like i did, then you dont need to worry where all the sensors go

There is a thread with wich pins you need to change from the S15 PFC to fit the S14a

Tke one of the hoses that is coming from the plenum, and cut it in half. Then using a 'T' piece, connect the two bits of hose back together, and a new bit of hose to the third stub on the 'T' , and then connect the MAP sensor to this.

However, without being funny, if you need that explained you are probably better following Odessa's advice and getting whoever is going to map it to fit everything so that you know its done right. Just watch it being done so you know how for next time

The air temp sensor is better off in the direct airflow - weld a nut into the IC piping and screw the sensor in

Lol! I'll agree with that dude, no worries! I'm not the type to try & mess with something I know absolutely nothing about..! Especially something that involves highly combustable fluids, more than generous speeds, & a shed-load of money!
