    Spec R chassis bracing

I'm not sure if this is something you guys are fully aware of already, but there were some nice little suprises for me, so I thought I'd share

The S15 is essentially a tweeked S14 chassis as we all know. But as I'm not sure there's to many people daft enough to rip apart a Spec R as I have, so I thought I'd show a few of the chassis strengthening bit's we noticed along the way . Please excuse the state of the car, I put the braces back on to take photo's halfway through stripping the sound deadening and seam sealer.

Front and rear strut towers use a brace plate on top:

Between the to chassis rails at the front theres a huge brace:

The rear subframe is noted to be massively superior to the S13 and S14 items. I haven't pulled it off to compair yet, but to give you an idea, check this brace between the 2 rearmost mounting points:

In the boot, theres a huge brace spanning the back: and a corner brace each side at the front:

But the Bpillar saw the most extreme bracing, check out this rollover bar, and the huge brackets that go from the rear seat to the lower Bpillar:

Theres also some other little plates randomly fixed in, for instance:

Nice, now take them off, and make copies for the S14/S14a owners

I was gonna say what Kev has. Can you try them on the S14 daily driver to see if they fit please
You could probably buy these from Nissan too

In all seriousness, I'm thinking about this, they would almost certainly have to be weld in peices though, due to the lack of bolt holes. This is almost certainly an advantage though, as it will be even stiffer then, and the bolts used to hold these in must weigh about 4 kg's in total

    nice find

Always wondered what the differences was which made the S15 more stiff in the chassis.

I'll bet if you strip apart a Varieta you'll find even more chassis bracing...

Yep, some of that was known, but didn't know about the more hidden B pillar stuff

    lol Steve?

Matt: the S14 daily still has full interior, so no .. I've got another S14a that I've just got to find the time to rip to bits, so I'll see if I can offer them up to that . I'm not entirely sure that there arn't holes in the S14 chassis for some of these bits anyway. I imagine all of the research and development for this car was done using an S14a anyway, so you never know

All those parts are obtainable. Cost is another thing...

They may not just go straight on though. For example, the boot brace requires additional plates for it to bolt onto.

    REINFORCE-REAR PILLAR RH - £17.40
    REINFORCE ASSY-ROOF - £14.30
    BRACKET-FLOOR MOUNTING,RH (to mount boot cross bar) - £8.00
BAR ASSY-TRUNK FLOOR (boot cross bar) - £84.30
    PLATE-NUT (boot corner plate) - £4.00
    BAR ASSY-CROSS,FRONT (underbody cross bar) - £50.00

Those are Jap prices and don't include bolts and shipping. The Nissan GB price would be at least double (yes, seriously) and they would take between 3 days and 3 months to come through, depending on whether or not they had been previously ordered in Europe.

The roof reinforcing assembly wasn't fitted on S15s with a sunroof.
