Insurer asking for Cat 1 alarm proof for S14/a?

Both the Euro S14 and S14a were factory-fitted with the Nissan Anti Theft System (NATS) Thatcham approved Catagory 1 alarm and immobiilser.

The S14 (10/94 to 10/95) was fitted with NATS V1.0 Plus.
The S14/a (10/95 onwards) was fitted with NATS V2.0 Plus.

You DO NOT have to provide your insurer with a fitting certificate for these alarm systems.

If your insurer requests proof of fitting (and some do), refer them to the Thatcham 'Vehicle Security National Listing' document. This contains the listings for all of the alarms and immobilisers they have tested. Thatcham are the national research team responsible for the Catagory 1 and 2 alarm specifications and their word is final on car security in the UK.

The S12, S13 and S15 require aftermarket alarms and immobilisers. The S15 should have been fitted with a Catagory 2 immobiler before the SVA test.

if car is a Jap import any factory fit security doesnt count as Thatcham dont recognise them. Some insurer's will ask for another to be fitted on certain cars

(that was kind of the point of this thread at the time)
