    My new project. 56K warning

I really don’t know how far to go with this. The plan was to sort the rust, re underseal and generally tidy it up. One thing can lead to another though and I might end up stripping it to the shell and rebuilding everything. I have been looking at shotblasting gear already
The engine has an unusual rattle. Linky
    http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=208811

I have spent 2 days trying to find the problem but could really do to sort this before I decide my plan. Here’s some pics of the car and I will update this thread with my progress

    The good....

    The not so good

And yes that's 3 "Datsuns" on my drive now

Pete went out in the nearly dry, and had a days fun - followed by 2 days of salt removal before going back under its blanket
I'm sure Petes S13 willl soon be less rusty, I already know what parts he plans to remove clean and fix and replace, it will look like his old one quicker than you might imagine, ie not next year with the pace of most of us

Basically yes but I bet it's not as bad as it looks when I get the wire brush on it.

Hey Paul I might hold you to that, I have just bought a MIG welder but haven't welded for some time I have also bought a shotblasting gun. Thought I would try it on a rusty strut. Car should weigh about 900Kg when I have finished

This engine rattle is doing my head in though. Would have been nice to sort that before I start on the bodywork.

I think you should shot blast the whole car, so it looks silver, then I'll just swap one night .....

Since the big ends are knacked I have decided to start stripping the car down. Took the interior out and cleaned the seats with soap powder and a sponge, left it for an hour and hosed them down. I have done this to loads of old car interiors without a problem.

This is what came out of the rear seat

Seats are almost dry and now look like this

    Remote alarm needs tidying up

Tailgate is original and in superb condition - No filler Just some slight surface rust around the holes. This is the worst

Inside the tailgate is rust free

More than can be said for the spoiler

Floorpan & inner sills are in superb condition

    I need...

    S13 carpet
Rust free spoiler (am I dreaming )
    Drivers window switch assembly
    Radio CD player
    Interior mirror
    Sunroof seal

Next job will be strip the engine bay

well i washed and claybar'ed and washed again my car today (and then polished it and it looks sh1t cos i need some swirl remover )

not quite on a par with what you've been up to though

once again serious hardcore cleaning going on

how come you need a new carpet? too fecked?

    *edit*
i imagine you will be hard pushed to find a "mint" condition spoiler considering yours looks like that and your boot hasnt taken hold yet and looking at the average s13 tailgate
i'd say your best bet will probably be someone bringing one over from japan if you are going for totally standard looks or even my favourite a genuine 180sx type X spoiler

Try some Zymol from Hellfrauds, it's good for removing swirl marks. Carpet is too fecked, it's got holes in it As for the spoiler I am pretty sure I will have to fit an aftermarket one. S14 spolier could be an option I suppose.
