    S13, 6x9s, amp, iPod - help?

Before anyone starts, I'm REALLY not looking for hi-fi sound quality!

I want some sounds in my drift slag S13 - just to listen to driving down the motorway or waiting at a drift day...

I've got a pair of Sony 6x9s and a crappy 2 channel amp with low level input..

My plan is to wire that lot in and use a headphone-phono cable into the amp straight from my iPod, no headunit at all...

    Two questions :

    1) Will that work?
    2) Any ideas where I can mount the 6x9s? I don't want pods sticking everywhere, I don't want massive builds, I just want to stick them somewhere discreet...

Will they go in the doors with a bit of cutting?

    Ta

I wonder who that was aimed at

    anyway:
    1) Yes this would work. I had a mini disc walkman, boss amp and kenny 7x10 in a old car for ages. Worked a treat

2)Cant help with the mounting sorry

Excellent, that's the main problem out of the way... Just the problem of where to stick the 6x9s now... Think I might chop a bit out of the doors and sling them in there, unless there's something bad about that I'm missing?

If you are just after basic sounds should be fine mate obviously you'll have to chiop your doors, but i think other people have done it too.
one thing to be aware of is check that the speakers aren't too deep and will foul the window
You'll probably benefit from putting a MDF ring around the speaker, then sealing that to the door, should give you a bit more bass/mid range - only add a couple of grams as well

Thanks for the advice - it's all hassle though, I just want to lob them in there as quick as possible for the time being

cool, in that case, self tappers, bit of PVA round the side to stop them rattling against the door metal, and job done

Did you bother to read the post at all? Wondered how long it'd be before you turned up with some non-advice.

Because I don't want to spend any money on it if I can help it - the 6x9s were in the car when I had it, the amp cost me £3 off eBay.

It might be tricky to use an FM transmitter without a headunit

I've got a cradle/charger/transmitter for my iPod, use it in my BMW... No use for the drift slag though!
