    How To: 350z front brakes

Here's a how to guide for 350z front brakes....

    Parts:
    350z Calipers and Discs
    4 off M14x1.5x45 bolts
    Brake fluid

    Tools:
    14mm drill bit
Angle grinder with fine cutting disc
    Duck Tape

    1. Remove the pads, calipers and discs (just 2 bolts). Undo the brake hose and cap it off to top the fluid leaking.

    Attachment 28564

    2. Cut into the guard and fold the edges back.

    Attachment 28566

    3. Drill out the existing caliper holes to 14mm.
Tip: Stick some duck tape over the magnetic ABS sensor. This saves you having to clean the swarf off it later

    Attachment 28565

    4. Fit the new calipers with the M14 bolts

    Attachment 28567

    5. Bleed the system and you're done!

Wow! That was simple!! Does this technique work with most calipers?

    Depends on the calipers

This works for 350Z and R34 front calipers. Other Skyline variants bolt straight in without the need to enlarge the bolt holes.

350z discs are 324mm (S14 = 280mm) with larger brembo 4 pot calipers and are pretty much the same as R34 Skyline. Neither are particuarly easy to get hold of, generally looking at between £500 and £700 for the fronts.

Yeah.. I think I got ripped off. I'm going to ask for my money back cos I found a spec of rust on one of the discs

P.S I forgot that I'd fitted them this morning on my way to work and hugged the dash when I put the brakes on at 80...

    Are they that good?

Does the grooves make much noise?

You've gone from 280mm standard haven't you. Mine won't feel as good as i had the 310 kit. But i will hope and see....

I'll let you know how good they are after I've given them hell at Brands on Thursday...

I don't know how they compare to other big brake kits though.

    No noise at all.

I'm sure they're better, otherwise it made no sense me fitting them...

I'll give you a call at the weekend to see how you got on. After the original pads are gone its on to DS2500s then...

If i can get the rest of my parts by saturday i should have mine done hopefully...

Jules, think you can use nissan 350z front bolts from nissan.

    Jolly???

I have got some but not sure they are the correct length, you may have to chop em. If you get stuck give us a shout.

Appart from the bolts being £4 each from nissan, the shank is too long and does not fit. You need as mentioned above but just something like a grade 8.8 from any bolt place will do. You will find M14 is not used much other than in the motor industry and the pitch is fine as normal pitch is 2mm.

I got mine from AHC ltd. www.ahc-camberley.co.uk.
They were M14x1.5x55, but fitted fine without needing to cut them down.
(as long as you dont mind 10mm hanging over)
They're about £1.50 each including single coils.
