    buying wrote off 350Z

ive been thinkin of this recently.

i fancy buying a 350Z with the engine completly dead or front end ruined.
then putting a SR20 in there...

only prob is that as its a new car the engine will be fine for years to come

where would you be able to get a 350 from that is damaged?
and for what prices you think...

Why not just buy one that's been written off and then sell the engine?

    yea, could do that too.

    i fancy a turbo 350.

i would imagine that insurance companies put them somewhere when they write them off. dont just burn them...

i can remeber seing an auction for damaged cars in max power a few years ago..

my mate did this, bought a 350z for 5 grand odd with a knackered front end and engine, stuck a SR20 in and a S14 front on it, then rear ended it and decided to go for the rear end off a S14a, then went on a weight saving mission using the chassis and suspension from a S14. All in all I'd say it was a worthwhile project.

Have a look in the back of AutoTrader. It won't come cheap, though.

Do you have the ability/time/facilities to repair a front-ended 350z to good condition?

    I'd rather not .

I doubt you'd get a 350z with a popped engine, as it'll be rebuilt or replaced in something that new if popped. Also I think you need a breaker's licence to buy write-offs, and It'll still be thousands to get a crash repairable one complete from a breakers I expect (could be wrong though).

I'd imagine that most engine failures would still be under warranty?

I think you should do it, and start a thread on here, keeping us updated with your progress (including pics). The mods could even make it a sticky
