The Profec is cheaper, smaller and quicker to set up. The Apexi AVCR lets you vary the boost with engine speed.

You mean the Profec E-01 I think
I had an AVC-R on my S14a, it was fantastic device, loads of features and stuff to get the boost control perfect. I'll be getting a Profec B for the Soarer though as I didnt really use any of the settings on the AVC-R

The profec is a no frills controller when compared to the competition but what it does provide is a quality solenoid and quality components.

lol, thats the one . i assumed looking at the profec that it had more features and the price also, but im now assuming that it does less and your just paying for the big screen.

Any more opinions than that? I've got the same dilema at the moment. I was going for the Apexi but Bren suggested the Profec B

Greddy profec runs a dual solenoid, stepped motor setup, from memory the AVCR only runs a single solenoid setup.
The dual solenoid setups give a greater degree of precision with boost control. So its a compromise, you loose features on the profec as compared to the AVCR but the greddy probably has the edge when it comes to doing the job of being a boost controller.
