Long things made short. Went to a drift competition and won it.
![]() Download video from a training. How to kill tire in 60 seconds. ![]() http://www.go-drift.com/video/go-drift.com_24V.wmv 10mb video Friday 5. May 2006 Long things made long. This saturday we had round 2 of Croatian drift competition known as "Drift Match Croatia" held in Pula, Istria, on Adriatic coast. ![]() 300km trip to Pula from Zagreb started on friday morning for me. Visit to a local shop (www.dastek.hr) for a fresh oil and check of the car. ![]() Loaded the car with 3 set of tires, some tools and went to a trip ![]() Arrived to Pula on friday. I visited the parking lot where competition was about to held next day. Since I'm a polite guy I asked for a permision to test the grip of surface. ![]() Surface was very very agresive for tires as we are about to find out the next day. Rest of the day I spent crusing along the coast and at the beach. In the evening we settled in a camping house to sleep over.

Saturday 6. May 2006 - competition day
¸9 cars arrive to a competition. Weather was sunny with temperatures of around 20°C and it was very pleasant with breeze wind. First training was at 11h. ![]() I went on the track. We were allowed to do 8 laps, but I managed to kill rear tires in 3 laps / 60 seconds as you can see in the video on the above post. ![]() Lot's of crowd around my car. For second training I've put set of 15" tires, done a few laps and saved 17" tires for competition. In third training i've put another set of 17" tires and done only 2 easy laps just to test them and preserve for competition. Competition was done in 2 rounds with judges judging speed/line/angle + style. 2 continous laps were judged. First round I've drifted like in a training with no mistakes and bit conservative, not wanting to spin. I drifted the entire track from entry to exit and on the straight line. Second round was at round 17h. Everybody was now bit tired from the day spent on the sun. I've managed to concentrate and improve my driving and did bit more agresive entries, while everybody else did lost their concentration makin more mistakes. So I won over my mate Hrc in AE86 and Tikky with E21 323 bimmer ![]() My GF and biggest fan ![]() ![]() Me, picking up the award money - 900kn / 120€ wohooo ![]() My mechanic After the event we went to a fancy bar called "Aruba" to celebrate the victory ![]()

Thank you guys on your positive coments.
Last weekend I did gymkhana run with my ae86, finished 3rd. http://www.go-drift.com/video/go-drift.com_25V.WMV Small video from a training. On to the Nissan again. This saturday I'm going to a drift competition in Slovenia, Ljubljana. Since I'm pretty happy with the car at the moment, no major upgrades are on the way. What I wanted to do is alignment. It's been more then 8 months that I did my last one and since then I messed a lot with my car setup. ![]() I did it at Dryden in Zagreb since only there I can get on the ramps with my spoilers and low car. Settings are: Parameter: Before/After values Front castor: +6.80° +6.80° / +6.80° +6.80° Front Camber: -2.40° -2.0° / -2.30° -2.20° Rear Camber: -3.10° -2.50° / -3.30° -2.70° (someone please give me RUCA-s) Front toe: -1.7mm -1.7mm / -0.4mm -0.4mm (don't do alignment and THEN lower your car. thats what I did and messed up my toe with lowering last time, that whys I had so much toe out) Rear toe: +0.8mm +3.5mm (too much) / +1.1mm +1.2mm (bit of toe-in now for more grip) That's it for now. |

2. Avtomagazinov Drift Challenge 20.05.2006. Logatec, Slovenija
Dear All I'm very happy to inform you that I won the second drift challenge held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, organized by "Avto Magazin". Last year I was there, competing with my old white AE86, fighting for a first place with Peter Zimmerman. I lost in the finals after eating some bad food and getting sick. Report from the last year can be found here http://www.aeu86.org/forum/viewtopic...ogatec&start=0 Preparations for Slovenia started right after DMC Pula. I gathered all the best Croatian drifters and we organized a group visit to Slovenia. ![]() ![]() Around 9:30 we arrive to track ![]() Tires, toolbox... ![]() Supporters and zaku ![]() Our official photograph - most of the pictures here are his ![]() Driver meeting ![]() Layout of the track. ![]() Judges - 3 tehnical (1-10 points) and one for style (1-5 points) ![]() My mate "Format X" ![]() one of the better driver ![]() My mate Hrc ![]() Peter Zimmerman, last year winner ![]() Cooling of FMIC ![]() Me, reading the rules. |

Few pictures of me drifitng
![]() ![]() Picture by Had ![]() May cap fell of the head, but I caught her with my left hand ![]() ![]() Same picture as the one before, just different angle ![]() My supporters can be easily spoted - standing in the last row. ![]() In the finals, direction of drifitng was changed ![]() Apex ![]() Another photo by Had Entire day I was driving very good, consistent and didn't make any mistake. Not a one spin or under steer. Perfect. We had 3 "stages" of competition 1. qualifications, 3 runs, best one is taken in account 2. half-finals, 12 best from qualifications do 3 runs, best run is take in account 3. finals, 6 best do 6 runs, but this time last 3 runs are done in opposite direction (it was like a surprise for finalist). 2 best runs were taken in to account, so consistency was important. |

So, before picking awards best 3 drivers were allowed to celebrate the victory by spinning/doing burnout. Inspired by Japanese Drift Xtrem group I did following performance with my girlfriend
. ![]() ![]() ![]() I went to a centre of parking and told my girlfriend to step out. She was a bit scared but I told you not to worry. As she stood by me, I took her hand and started to do burnout, gradually going into circles around her. After doing around 10 donuts around her I stopped the moving and start doing standing burnout again, while she enters the car while I'm smoking the tires. Then we go into the 2 big circles and finish the show by just touching the pile of tires. You can see this performance in this 10mb big video: http://www.go-drift.com/video/go-drift.com_26V.avi Please download this video and tell me what you think. ![]() ![]() Top 3 Here is a team photo after the event - Croats invading Slovenia. ![]() From right to left Marijo Kanjuh / service vehicle www.jcauto.hr Dorijan Topčič aka Dodo Mazda RX-8 with GReddy turbine kit - Drives on T1-R Goran Kasumović aka Kas AE86 - Drives on T1-S supllyed by me ![]() Josip Žagar aka ZaX Nissan RS13 - I drive on T1-R of course Hrvoje Vešligaj aka Hrc AE86 - T1-R, finshed 6. And now, something completly different!
I went drag racing with my car! Since drag racing is mega popular in Croatia 2 days before race I decide that I might try this discipline of motorsports for the first time in my life.To prepare the drift car for drag race I replaced super-stiff rear 8kg/mm Tein coilovers with softer suspension for better grip. ![]() I was intending to drive on TOYO T1-R 245/40/17 but my mate Dodo borrowed me two TOYO R888 235/45/17 tires. ![]() Car lifted in the back day before the race I arrived on track early in the morning (6:10). I barely managed to get starting number because 205 drivers/cars applied for the race! We did 2 qualifying runs. Since it was my first event I had to learn how to launch my car properly. In the morning my 1/mile times were 14.7 and 14.3. Ideal for 14 second bracket. Boost was set to 0.85 bar and later to 1.0bar I launched car at 4500rpm, so rpms fall to around 4000rpm where my GReddy turbine has nice spool up. R888 are really great tires for drag. I did few burnouts to heat them up, but later I found out that burnouts are not necessary. On launching tires make 3-4 spins and car is rocketed out of the line. My rear tire pressure was set to 1.3 bar. Class 16 seconds and 15 seconds were huge, so my 14 second class started to race in the evening! Colder weather was good for my turbo car, so times were better then in the morning. So I raced against Honda Integra 270hp and won. Seat Ibiza Cupra 300hp + 100hp NOS and won! Next was BMW M3 + NOS and I lost to him because my clutch was slipping badly, but he made his second brake out (to class 13 and he was disqualified) so I went further. Then I raced against Mazda MX3 + turbo and won easily. Tuned Clio Sport + NOS was easy for my Nissan so again I won. Next was BMW M5 E34 + NOS from Serbia. I won on the start, but he red lighted anyway so I won again. So as my class begin to be smaller I was in the finals, but somehow Yugo with 4x4 and Lancia engine appeared in my class. I raised the boost a bit more and won, but unfortunately my time was under 14.000 seconds and I was sent to 13 second car class! In 13 seconds class I lost to a VW Golf 4x4 Rally + turbo + nos. There were only 6 cars in class 13 : Opel Ascona + Lotus Omega engine +400hp, Porsche 911, Golf 4x4 that I lost from, Custom Fiat Tipo 4x4 turbo....All specially made cars for drag racing. I'm proud of time that my car made, that was build and tuned by my own hands. I did perfect starts from the line, mostly because of the excellent tires. 0 traction problems. I just wish my clutch was better so I could raise the boost. Also my appearance was a big surprise to a lot of people because by now I was only popular as a drifter. Please download video from a drag http://www.go-drift.com/video/go-drift.com_27V.avi You can see in this video how good my starts off the line were. I was even faster then the 4x4 Rally golf. Pictures! ![]() Drifter transformed in to dragster. ![]() GReddy RS13 vs RX-8 GReddy Turbo. Mazda was also on R888 (he borrowed me one set) ![]() Focus on the CARS ![]() ![]() Small burnout for TV ![]() Preparing for the race ![]() Race is on. Nissan wins ![]() Returning to the pits |

Videos
Zax vs Clio Guru Zax vs M5 Boki Zax vs Yugo turbo This was run that put me in to 13 sec class Few notes from this event ![]() Maximum boost was 1.14. I can go all the way to the 1.4 with my forged GReddy pistons and metal head gasket but my clutch is just not on pair with that much power. I usually drift with 0.85 bar of boost (that's around 280hp) to preserve the engine/gearbox. ![]() G-tech PRO RR measured 5.1 seconds to 100kmph. Best time was 13.4 seconds with exit speed of 164kmph. Recently I weighted my car with no rear seats and full tank of fuel = 1250kg With that weight G-tech calculated that I have 205.6kw @ 6158rpma and 370.5Nm on very low 3863 rpma. That's the power on wheels. 205.6kw x 1.341 = 275.7 HP on wheels is the same value that I measure on dyno at Dastek, 276hp. 276HP at wheels equals around 333hp on flywheel. Nice power for 1.8 engine. ![]() ![]() At the end of the day my car was among 10 fastest cars! My gallery: http://www.go-drift.com/galerija.aspx?br=17 Official gallery http://www.402streetrace.com/streetr...rija.php?ID=33 Hope you enjoyed reading the report. One last report for today and thats it! I promise.
I bought some stuff for my car, so before I installed them I had to tweek them a bit. Rice parts, paint, cup of coffy and afternoon to spend. ![]() First with easy, bolt-on parts. ![]() JDM reservoir tank cover to absorb leakages at the master brake tank to keep my engine bay clean and oil-free. ![]() Nismo oil cap - for show off use ![]() ![]() Downgraded my car from 200SX -> 180SX -> JDM tyte ![]() Motegi blue lug set - this are acutally usefull since they have "anti-theft" hex spine. Also one of my old lugs got damaged so I needed to replace them anyway. Ah...new powered mirrors. ![]() I can't see shit now when going in reverse. And by far the best upgrade I've don to S-chasis. New front lights. Original one are just poo. ![]() It was a good oportunutiy to upgrade the bulbs too. ![]() Plastic surroundig aroung the lights looked so old, so I painted it in to nice glossy black. ![]() 4 rusted bolts that hold the lamp in place rusted so badly that I had to remove the front bumper to unseeze rusted bolts. ![]() Looks so funny to me

![]() Lapms in place with freshly painted surroundings ![]() Bumper on - nice ![]() Lights - on ![]() Lights - off, blue headlights match the blue fog lights in bumper ![]() Lights at night. I'd say the are AT LEAST 5 times better then original one. Very happy with this upgrade. And last ones are the rear tail lights. Before buying ones, I looked in to variuos styles and decided to go "fake kouki" style ![]() http://www.go-drift.com/galerija/S13_lights/ -> galley of s13 rear lights I bought "alteza" aka lexus style ones. Of course they look terrible to me, so I instantly painted them to red/black. ![]() Red transparent ![]() Voila ![]() Center panel - who needs revers lights, anyway. ![]() Off with old ones ![]() On with new ones. I had to rewire the instalation. My mate dodo helped me with that. ![]() 4 position lights + 4 brake lights, 2 lights in the middle are indicators ![]() @night Good night. Enough posting for today.
