    The 3 main Dash Bulbs

Here's some perfect bulbs for the 3 main dash illumination points (with the brown coloured sockets).. I had 2 old bulbs and one(middle) that had been replaced at some point. When I fitted my voltage regulator the two older bulbs both blew, probably after getting full voltage for the 1st time in years. So, I took out the bulbs and went to Halfords. In there I found that the right bulbs are type 501. As you can see I got 501LB(laser blue) cos they look alot brighter and now match my boost & oil temp gauges
Anyway, I wanted to get some new bulbs then take out the old ones and replace. I couldn't find any info on the correct bulbs on the forum here so I thought I'd post up the info now The 'ordinary' simple white bulbs are only £1.49 a pair but I got these 'laser blue' jobbies cos they're better for me and even then they were only £3.99 a pair. Getting them in is a very easy job too

I've delved into the small bulbs in heater controls, but never into the dash.
Five watts seems a hell of a lot for dash bulbs, but I'm prepared to be wrong.
The front sidelamp bulbs, and rear taillight filaments are five watts.

you're right and wrong, right because as you can see on the packet the ones I used are sidelight bulbs but thats just because they dont do the dash bulbs in the laser blue but trust me the ordinary ones are 12v 5w too

    I'll take some pics...

sat here drumming fingers, just knowing I'll be here till tomorrow.

I have long enough fingernails now, and like making tapping noises with them.

    An absolute doddle!

    1. Go to halfords and buy bulbs.
    2. Lower steering wheel as low as it'll go.
    3. Remove S.wheel cowling (6 screws)
    4. Remove speedo/tacho surround (2 screws @ the top)
    5. Remove speedo/tacho unit (1 screw @ top and 1 on either side)

change bulbs (the 3 brown holders) and refit in reverse. Job done should take about 20 minutes tops
