IIRC someone up here has this from the DVLA or something, was it Mike?
Will probs need it for pending MOT, first time I've MOT'd my L reg one.

I have one from VSA Didn't need it for my recent mot they did the correct test without me mentioning it.
My scanner isn't working at the moment though.
Ah, that'd be handy if I could get that - any chance of photocopying it and bringing it to meet or posting? The newer the s13 the harder to explain and get the right test it is. Many places go by after '92 and it needs a CAT rule. Mines a '94.

Your information is correct, although the vehicle was fitted with a CAT it does
not need to be fitted with one for MOT. However it still needs to meet the
emissions limits. As there is no exact match for this make and model of vehicle
it will have a non-CAT test (2) applying limits: CO<=(3) 3.5%
HC<=1200ppm(4).

Subject: MOT emissions/cat
Hi,
Can you help? I have a Nissan 200sx Coupe 1.8 Turbo (S13) registered 1st
August 1993. I understand that although it was sold with a CAT, it does not
need to have one fitted when it goes for an MOT. Pls confirm this is
correct. Of course, it must still pass the emissions limits. Pls can you
confirm what emissions limits it (as a pre '95 but post '92 car) must pass.
Much appreciated!
Mike

Cheers Mike, any chance of getting that letter sent anyway John so I can take it along? Would be annoying if I had to take for retest for that one thing.
Also does anyone know if all side lights need to be working (i.e. all 4 of them) as I only have 3 that work but most cars only need 2.
Cheers,
Dunc.
as a general rule for the mot if its fitted it must work.thats what i was told by our local mot station
tony
erm 3 sidelights?
I though we only had 2 (the bumper ones), 2 dip headlights and 2 full beam?
I will try and remember to bring it into work tomorrow or friday (I am off on holiday for 2 weeks after that so could maybe meet half way over the weekend if I forget it).
There's sidelights in the main headlights too, you've probably done the headlights down on sidelights mod you doofus
Dunc.
Didn't realise there were two set's of side lights...Originally Posted by dunc
Infact there is only one bulb in the main unit with two elements (dip and beem) so it must use one of them on a lower voltage but I can't see how....
I thought sidelights made popups come up but no bulb comes on.
Workshop manual says
position 1, Lamps = open, headlamps = no operation. (maybe they only added it on the very late ones if you have seperate sidelight bulbs in the headlamp units) Can you not just pull out the working sidelamp bulb out so only the bumper ones are working like every other 200.... It should pass if you do that....
Nah, maybe your headlamp sidelights are busted?Originally Posted by mr-mac

I don't have headlamp side lights if they are seperate bulbs
It passed without them anyway.....
Post
Here is a previous post on it.
It's the DIM-Dip circuit (through the Dip bulb fillament)
There is no soloution on the link but at least we know what circuit it is....
John
More wiring fun for the Mac-meister, I'd just leave it if I were you. Not really worth bothering about.
Dunc.

This year I didnthave to coz the place remembered me.... and the car passes with out me doing any work to it
They also should not have to pay for a retest (if they fail it only on this) as its there fault for running the wrong test on the car. They will have run an S14 test which is for the wrong car and there for is invalid.
gonna do the no-popup bodge soon so not that bothered tbh.
There's deffo 4 side lights, 2 in bumper and 2 dimmed beam in the pop-ups.Originally Posted by Kev

Yeah it's the dip part of the bulb dimmed......
When I fixed an electrical problem I had re-attached an unidentified wire which must have fixed this.....
I hadn't seen the two main lights with sidelights on since, but they seem to be working now....
exactly, it aint sidelights, its the dipped.
if u switch engine off with switch on side lights, only the bumper lights are illuminated, ie they are the side lights
