how to ... front indicators s14

i'll just post my project for you s14 drivers to save some cash on white blinker lenses
total cost about 20€ or about £14

you need a screwdriver, a saw, some silver paint, transparent silicon glue ( i use fix-all) and transparent white plastic

the plastic used is what we call shower plastic over here
i hope you see what i mean on the pics, you should find it at your local DIY store

first take out your complete units
then saw of the orange lens, you need to saw because the orange lenses are clicked in and glue'd

file it to make it smooth than paint the edge silver

    some other pics

you see the white plastic cut it out but make the from a little bigger
drill a hole so you can putt the screw back in to place them in your bumper

then glue the white lens on with the transparent glue and make sure the hole for the screw is placed correct
if you cut out the form a little bigger you can now file of the rest sticking out
    this should be the result

and on the car it looks like this
the blinker now lies a little deeper in the bumper

    good luck trying it yourself
and don't trow the orange lenses away if you need them for the MOT
i just quickly tape them back on

I did the same thing but I use a hairdrier to soften the glue and pulled the lenses out

    side ones?
which do you mean the ones in the front bumper on the sides or the normal ones on the panel

for the ones on the panel i bought white ones for a mazda 626
they fir nicely with an very little work needed ande they are a bit smaller

but i heard that the white ones from the almere would be a straight swap

    I bought them.. arrrgh

I have an s14a, and bought the nissan replacement lights for the front indicators - including the 10 % sxoc discount from Glyn hopkin Nissan it came to about 50 ish for both front lights.

the sides were Almera ones, and they look like (on face value) to be identical... but the connectors are all wrong!!

I got in a huff and left em in the box but fitted the front ones.

The connectors are angled and dont appear to fit like the 200sx s14a ones.. Maybe its just me - apart from the rest of it, they seemed like identical units..

I will scratch my head and have a think..

Go to a local scrap yard and cut the plugs from an almera and crimp them onto yours.Sorted.

If you put orange bulbs in and you can see them through the clear lense put a light spray of silver paint on then and they will still flash orange but not look it when not flashing!

easiest way to remove the orange lenses is to break off the 4 little tabs with a screwdriver (the bits with red round them)

Then put the indicators lense-down in the sink and fill the indicators 1/2 full with boiling water. leave for 2 minutes or until you can feel a fair bit of heat on the outside of the plastic. Then place a large screwdriver or bar through the hole for the bulb, press down on the lense with that and pull the rest of the indicator upwards. Do this carefully so as not to scald yourself. I tried a couple of other methods but that chewing gum glue stuff they use is impossible if you don't heat it. They come off fairly clean with this method.

Or get a fluorescent light cover from said DIY shop, which is what I'll be doing on Saturday

Ahh! Now there's the difficult bit. I can't find suitable textured plastic anywhere (including DIY stores).

just a couple of suggestions for places that might sell plastic like what you need

to me it looks like the same kinda plastic light covers that is used in suspended ceilings, with the squares of white tiles every couple of tiles you get a square light cover, so maybe a lighting specialist maybe able to help

the plastic also looks like what the shower cubicle doors in caravans were made from, so a caravan spares place or camping shop perhaps

    hope this helps
