Please read - wheel size, offset, spacers, clearance...

As it gets asked all the time I'm starting this thread with the intention of turning it into an FAQ...

    Can you please post:

wheel size, offset, spacers, suspension info (+ anything else relevant)

    I'll start

    Size: 8x18
    Offset: ET37
    Tyres: 225/40/18
    Spacers: 15mm front, 25mm rear
    Suspension: TEIN HA
Comments: Front wheels will clear the coilovers with a 6mm spacer (the 15mm spacer is purely for looks), rear wheels clear the coilovers fine but the rear arches need to be rolled to fit the spacers (again fitted for looks)

    OZ Superleggeras

    Size: 8x19
    Offset: ET40
    Spacers: None
    Suspension: Eibachs/KYB
Comments: No problems, but need to get front and rear camber sorted as 19" tyres are expensive . Brens 310mm brake kit fits fine aswell

    Size: Front 8x18 with 225/40s; Rear 9x18 with 255/35s
    Offset: Front ET35; Rear ET45
    Spacers: 3mm front, 3mm rear
Suspension: HKS Hipermax Damper II Coilovers
Comments: Both the front and rear wheels just about make contact with the springs, so minimum size spacers were required just for clearance. For rims with ET30-front and ET40-rear, spacers wouldn't be required.

    I've got 8x17" League 037's all round...
    EDIT: They're all ET35 offset

The fronts have 225/45/17 tyres, which required 3mm spacers to clear the standard callipers (Due to the wheel design), and now I have 15mm spacers to clear my R34 Brembo Callipers (5mm spacers cleared them, but the 15mm is for looks!)

The rears have 245/40/17 tyres, no clearance issues, but 15mm spacers for looks.

I've got Eibach springs and standard (knackered bouncy) shocks

    Vez: skyline wheels are +30

Ben: As much as I hate to confuse the thread, I think tyre size is also a major factor, when trying to work out what will go under the arch.

    me:
    size: 17x9
    offset: +19
    spacer: 6mm
    suspension: Tein Flex

I am currently running Advan 17x9 with a +13 offset front and rear, no arch mods, but running 235/40 rear (very close to the lip) and 215/40 front (far too small for most people). The car is lowered -45mm rear and around -80mm front.

    size: 17/255/40
    offset: +30 (R33 Rims)
spacer: 6mm on front, nothing on rears
suspension: Standard (otherwise known as 4x4 style )

No scrubbing on fronts or rears over speed bumps even when fully loaded (well, 3 up anyway ) altho i could do with the rear camber adjusting as it looks a bit much.
    Its gone!

Which are the best spacers to get then lads? How much? Where from?

Phatty posted in another thread that someones OZ Superleggeras 17x8 ET40 (same as mine) would benefit from 15-20mm spacer at the front and 20mm at the rear - sounds like a lot to me, don't you start running out of thread on the wheel studs?

    17" evo vi wheels, goodgear eagle F1 225, 45, 17 tyres.

    Eibach -35 springs.

No rubbing ever even with 4 people on board.

Evo vi wheels do need different wheel nut to standard, flat bottomed ones rather than tapered (cost £40 - £50).

    ...Tyres 245-45-17.
    Eibach springs and standard shocks.
    5mm spacers at front.
    Whiteline camber correction bushes (rear).

    Comments:
-Spacers not strictly necessary but give a 'safer' gap between the wheel and suspension.
-Tyres rub arch liner at front. 245-40-17 next time!
-Correction bushes to be replaced by adjustable arms, as bushes difficult to adjust .

    Tyres: 225/40/18
    Spacers: None
    Suspension: TEIN Flex
Comments: Wheels sit too far under arches. Lot of clearance for brakes. 342mm APs with 6 pots calipers go under with loads of room as did our 310mm brake conversion

    Wheels: Compomotive MOS
    Size: 8x18
Offset: ET35 (although Ben reckons theyre 20s )
    Tyres: 235/40/18

Comments: Wheels sit beautifully and have massive clearance for brakes. 342mm APs with 6 pots calipers go under with loads of room as did our 310mm brake conversion

    Wheels: 8x17 MVK2's
Offset: ET42 with 20mm spacers (reduces them to ET22) to fill arches - purely for looks
    255/40x17 front & rear
    Rear arches rolled
    Gas KYB's with HKS Springs, -43mm front & -15mm rear (I think)
No problems with clearances at all
