    Exclamation Oil Change Frequency

    From my experience, every time someone mentions frequency of oil changes the standard answer is

    "Nissan state 6000 miles, but most of us do it every 3000"

    this is somewhat strange, because the Nissan Service checklist states a D1,D2 or D3 every 6k, with a D0 every 3k

    D0 = oil change

    maybe they do know what they are talking about.

    however anyone going for the 6K changes may have problems.

    PLEASE STICKY THIS! I THINK IT'S QUITE IMPORTANT

    In the maintenace record book it says for turbo petrol cars travelling less than 18k miles a year, the service interval is every 6k miles or 6 months.

    All the D0 boxes has a red slash across them meaning they are not applicable. That said the more frequent the oil changes can only be a good thing.

    Only the Cabstar diesel requires an oil change every 3k miles.

    Using Mobil Rally 1....

    fully synthetic, been the only oil ever used in the car over 82K miles, I don't bother with changing any more frequently than every 12,000 miles. You do have to top up a litre or so every 3 - 4K miles tho.
    I believe that when MR1 first came out they claimed it was good for 20K miles in a standard engine between changes....
    Personally I swear by the stuff, expensive tho it is. Lot less expensive than a bottom end rebuild or a new Turbo.
    No good putting it into an older engine tho, once too much wear has taken place and sludge has built up in nasty places then I believe it can do more harm than good as it is so thin at lower viscosity.

    Can never change your oil too often!
