A guide to fitting a Digital Dashboard & HUD

Ok, here's a guide on how to fit an imported digi-dash from a 240sx to your S13 200sx (including re-wiring tables). It might work for a 180sx dash too, although I'll need the pinouts for that to be sure.

This is a first revision, so there's bound to be the odd mistake. If anyone attempts to do this, don't hesitate to contact me.

It's a 0.5MB PDF due to the images in it. I'll try and shrink it for a future version.

    Right click and 'save as'
    http://gary.purplepixie.org/sxoc/Digidash.pdf

    Enjoy.

EDIT: couple of notes before the guide is updated:
At the moment there is no proof that 180SX Japanese digital dashboards display mph, so be warned!
Also the maximum speed of the unit is 125mph, so take this into consideration too.

Glad you like it. If anyone finds any faults, please tell me.

I don't know anything about the 180sx digital aircon - I'd have a go, but I haven't even got standard aircon in my car so it would be a fair project (and it ain't really my bag ).
Still, what's the challenge posed with fitting those? I'd be glad to advise or decipher schematics.

Thats the thing i would even have a go at fitting one, but ive asked around before on other places and no one has been able to get the schematics for them?
Plus i think you need some sort of servos for the hot/ cold selector, and servos for the different vents.

I think the servos that are there are ok, but you need temp sensors. Jacko had it in his previous s13 but never got the climate control wired up afaik.

Get the 180sx dash & loom if you can. I'm sure we'll be able to make it fit (send me some clear pictures of the back of one and I can tell you if it looks the same).
It would make things so much slicker with the RHD HUD unit (might even stand a chance of the rev counter working too).

    The servo's aren't all there

The water temp control is manual slider on the std uk climate control.

All the directional doors etc. seem the same so I rekon if you can gethold of the sensors and temp control servo it could be done fairly easily.

I have the climate contol and small loom but need to get hold of motor and sensors to give it a go.

So If anyone finds somewhere that I can get these items give me a shout....

    John

Can anyone tell me where these sensors are?

There is a sesnor mounted on the dash whish I assume to be Sunlight (it is round, tinted almost black, approx 20mm in diamater and set into the screen vents (where the S14 alarm LED is)

    Where are the others?

Hi. Can the HUD operate with the non-digital dashboard?
If yes, is it possible to buy only a HUD?

No it can't. We have the HUDs standard on our SE models here. The HUD and analog clusters use different wiring harnesses and the HUD actually is wired off the digital speedo on the cluster, so it will not work with the analog dash.

Another point too guys.... we all take out our HUD dashes and use the analog dashes. Why? Because the HUD WILL stop working on you at some point. It is a pretty nifty little feature, but I like being able to see how fast I am going and not having the HUD die on me at some point, or only working when it is warm outside.

Yes, but I know how to repair/recondition them .

If you're slinging any of them in the bin, PM me and I'll have them
