    Coilover refurb.

I recently bought a car with BC coilovers fitted. The front was sat very low & clunked over every bump.
Today I jacked up the car & noticed both front dampers were leaking.
On inspection it seems that when the coilovers were fitted the preload on the front springs was so much that I had to wind off the spring collars by 40mm before the spring would even turn by hand.
This load seems to have blown all the oil out of the top of the damper.
Does anyone know a company I can send them too to get new seals & oil fitted?
The dampers are practically brand new & have covered less than 500 miles!

I'd be surprised if anyone would refurb them TBH, that tends to go along with high end stuff - I'd have thought it's a case of ringing a BC dealer and getting new inserts.

Yep get on the phone to Apex.

Obviously it won't be covered under warranty as they've been fitted in such a retarded way it's totally knackered them
Clearly the previous owner had only had eBay shite before, so didn't know how to properly set dual-perch coilovers.

Can't really go down the warranty route as there is nothin wrong with them other than being fitted by a chopper!
    I'll ring Apex tomorrow.

Call Apex and ask to speak to Ann.

Apex aren't active sellers of anything any more as they have moved into the wholesale car parts distribution business but Bren and Ann have given a commitment to carry on supporting their old customer base.

Have you tried phoning BC direct?

There is no indication on the spec pages that any BC shock is rebuildable. They don't list stuff like seals, rods, valves on accessories page. They may be welded like OEM shocks. Inspection of the damper body seal holder is required. If it has a hex for spanner or holes for a peg spanner it should be possible to disassemble it. If the seal holder is welded to body and the other end is too then it's probably not serviceable.

I had wondered what they were upto now, are they just wholesaling parts for any make of car now?

I'm not that sure what as what I have said was based on a conversation I had with Bren a while ago.

I believe it is importing and distributing aftermarket parts to traders and race teams of mostly Japanese cars. Don't blame me if that's not wrong. Its just an impression.

What is certain is that they have stepped away from selling as a trader on SXOC.

You can understand that really, they ain't making the car anymore so demand is only going to decline.

Compared to other Jap sports cars of the same era it's actually done bloody well.

you can buy a replacement damper for not a lot,

as is, no spring, mounts etc just the damper on its own.

Was going to say bc are apex, either number is the same place you're calling, their pretty easy to rebuild too, clearly had it in mind to be serviceable when designed.
