Sputtering and bucking
Hi everyone i have a wee problem, when im cruising or flat out my s14 runs fine but if i give 1/4 throttle and let the car speed up gradualy when the turbo starts the boost the engine starts to missfire, splutter and start to buck till i let of the throttle, if i floor it it will clear and pull fine. Anyone had similar problems? Maybe some pointers? Thanks😊

Is it quarter throttle or is it a specific rev range? Mine did this between 2-4 revs, so if I hammered it I didn't drop back in to them revs and could hoon it after first gear. That was the maf being dirty, cleaned sensors and it was like a brand new car. If not check for boost leaks, coils/sparks or fuel pump

It usualy happens betweens 3 and 4 thousand rpm but its deffo when it starts to build boost pressure. If it starts to sputter on low boost and you put your foot right to the floor it will clear and pull smooth

diconnect lambda and see if it runs better. if it does lambda is shagged, replace.

Does it have the dv taken off ? As mine does something similar after removing dv
I think it's to do with the air stalling in the afm

My manual boost controller has caused this on my RB25. Take the MBC out and its ok....just slow! I need a profec B or similar.

This is exactly what mines doing now. Wont rev over 4k, or drive over 4k. Struggles to build any kinda boost.
How do i clean the AFM or whatever?

Don't use a brush or anything though, just spray carb cleaner on the wires, that'll clean them
