Type X 180sx speedo over reading Help!

Hi all, I've got an import type x with standard kmh gauge cluster as you all know. I had a kmh to mph converter put in but but my speedo is reading around 100mph when I'm doing around 30. It's way off and I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar issue with theirs? Any solutions that could give me an accurate reading?

Take the converter out and see what it reads then? Sounds like it's been wired in wrong.

If you take the clocks out and take them apart there is a pot on the back of the speedo that allows a small amount of adjustment but it's for fine tuning really, not going to fix that kind of an overread

That sounds like the converter is knackered.

if it's the later 180 clocks, there's no adjuster pot - if the odo is digital rather than mechanical tumbler type, they're not well documented.

Its the second converter Ive had as first was doing the same. Both from sva parts. ODO is digital. Limter kicks in when it gets past 180 on clock roughly 50mph. It's shit

I had the cheapest possible 5 wire converter on mine when I got it and it worked fine (and I'm using the standard kouki 180 clocks too with the digital odo) -

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SPEEDO-CON...item5d2579f57c

using that one it was should be red-+12vign, black-gnd, blue to speedo, yellow from source (iirc the grey one wasn't used since the 180 pipes the speedo output back to the ECU anyway.)

that's literally the same one that was on mine though I've now switched to a little adjustable box that'll do changes on the fly since I'm planning diff changes etc and want the speedo to stay accurate.

is that the same jobbie that SVA sell?

Looks similar sort of setup to mine. If it worked for you without hassle ill try one and see. You didn't have to change the gearbox speedo sensor then? Is your car UK s13 or Import 180sx? Only asking because your avatar is of a ca18det.

Did you put a S14 speed sensor in 180sx box? I have read that is needed to get a better reading, although the cogs are totally different (180sx/s14) How did you get around that? Maybe try wiring a speedo converter in too see if that does the job?
