Car engine sounds in TV Shows / Movies

Is it just me that finds it irritating when there is no consistency with engine sounds in TV Shows / Movies

Transporter Season 1 Episode 7. In the first chase, the Audi goes from having a V10 to a V8

In the film Abducted, the M3 Taylor Lutner drives has a V10 engine note

Less obvious but did you know the TransAm in Smokey and the Bandit was over dubbed with the sound of a Ford Hotrod?
Guessing the Pontiac big block was too lazy to sound all that cool

Almost any of those 'police interceptors' docu-shows on TV.

Tracking shots of imprezas/evos/S3's/Volvo diesels all dubbed the same sound.

Not engine or exhaust sounds exactly, - but from the original series of The Dukes Of Hazard onwards, to present day, telly & films with the noise of tyres screeching (as on tarmac) when on grass, mud tracks or even sand...

    Tut kin TUT!

I know it isn't cars or even sound FX but can we add to that the constant cocking and recocking of firearms in films

We figured this out at a car show this summer...

Boggo standard mustang - standard wheels. It was trying an autosolo doing about 1mph taking it easy, and tyres squealed the whole time rubbing on the arches or suspension or something, despite not going quite enough to spin any wheels.
