What's would the difference be if I had it as a top mount

There is no difference, just a T28 frame turbo is small. So when it's topmounted, they don't look that great compared to say a 30/71 which is larger and has more presence once top mounted. If I were you, stay bottom mount and if your adamant you want an external wastegate, get the stock manifold modified to take one.

I can see what you mean but I have got the top mount manifold and I'm not worried about it looking small to be fair and the maintenance will be easier in my eyes anyway.
Now I'm not sure if I want to rebuild my T28 and run that or get a new one

A T28 won't fit, so that's that turbo out of the question, majority of Kinguawna TD05's are the same T25 flange too. There may be one version that's a T3 but ideally most T3 turbos are much larger dude.

I know you can get adapters to fit them
That's the one I was going to get

I'm telling you now mate, honestly, bin your top mount and get the stock bottom manifold. Fit it properly with OEM gaskets and locking tabs and you will be laughing.
Your TD05 set up will be lag-tacular and produce all it's power at the end of it's range. You'd be far better with a T28 frame.
That's my 2p, ultimately it's your car and your decision so it's important you are happy, but I would really consider the advice given here. It will save you money against new management and, importantly, custom mapping costs.

Thanks mate I will be thinking about it now and probably do the oil seals on my turbo.
I anticipate the advice I just want it to work well and be reliable, not after big power as it will be my everyday car
