    Speeding but no pulled over....

    Hi guys,

Quick question as im cacking myself...

I've just been through a big open road which is a 40mph speed limit and was slightly speeding. I went past a parked up police car looking at people going by (presumably to catch the speeding) , but they didn't come after me. Can they prosecute afterwards?!

    HELP

    Thanks again

If it wasn't a static camera then you've most likely got away with it. They were most likely looking for stuff with markers pinging ANPR, or on a job looking for a specific car.

The lesson is: Stop driving like a penis

Its not like its a licence loser if they do send you a little letter....unless you've already racked up a load of points.

Doing that sort of speed in a 40 when visibility is so restricted you can't see a marked car, is probably worth thinking about for a few seconds though.

From what it is in ireland, If its gaurds they have to stop ya to give ya ticket but if its a speed van they can post it to the owner of the car,,

I'd asume its similar over in UK

Its not the same over here. Civilians with hairdryer style radar guns can record you and you get sent a ticket.

Don't you get sent a warning or something first, or is it now open and shut?
Do they do a picture like with static camera's or is it just a case of their word against yours??

Admitting in on a state watched internet i'd be more worried about.

My friend admitted 130 on Facebook and had the police on his door step to give him a court date

Admitting 60 in a 40 isn't really the same thing...

1 is a £100 fine and 3 points, the other is a potential prison sentence

open and shut case, it used to be you needed two officers to confirm the speed, well nowadays the officer in charge of the speed gun is #1 and the camera itself is #2 this is how i got caught a few months ago, also essex police also don't have t produce evidence/pictures either

Yea but I mean if it's not even an officer, if it's some grumpy old pensioner with a speed gun who's trying to stop people driving through their little village??

I know from experience if you've got a loud exhaust then no matter what speed you're doing people automatically think you're ****ing ragging the shit out of it everywhere you go.

Yea people are stupid like that. totally ignore the knob in a BMW/Merc etc. going over the speed limit, but jump about waving their arms at me when I'm doing under the speed limit in the 14.

Even my g/f is bad for it.

    "Slow down!!!!"
"Shut up, we're not even doing 30"

I did change the exhaust for something more civil after a while tho

You'll probably be OK mate, I can't take the moral high ground and say don't speed because i got caught 2 weeks ago doing 42 in a 30 because i chose to ignore the fact that the council had changed the speed limit on that stretch of road (1/4 mile after a junction) which used to go from 40 to 50 just because there is 1 turning for a large house on that stretch and they've complained they can't pull out the road or something... But yea £100 fine for me and 3 points lol.

lol. My kids have heard me say it so many times they now finish the sentence when we hear a chav-mobile with a cat-cannon...
