    About

The project page for our 2014 Bonneville Land Speed Racing bike. The BSA Salt Flash - Turbo 750cc A10 running on methanol

    Description

After our adventure at Bonneville in 2012 alongside 6 other teams of bikers running purpose built land speed racing (LSR) machines, we just couldn't resist going back for another attempt. The 2012 exploits were featured in the BBC programme, Speed Dreams which aired in Jan 2013

This time we are building a turbocharged 750cc BSA A10 running on methanol.

This page will allow you all to share in the design, build and race experience!

    Turbo'd A10 running methanol ? That's crazy !

As the local said when asked for directions "If I wanted to go there, I wouldn't start from here"

Serious question... Why would you use an A10 as a start point ? Or is it a matter of evolution and the bike's been in build for 60 years ?

Is it bored to 750 or stroked ?

    Genuinely fascinated by this...

    "Hi Duane,

There are literally 100's of classes of bike at Bonneville, we picked one which doesn't currently have a record set. The class is A-VBF750, which translates to Special Construction - Vintage (pre-1955 engines) Blown Fuel 750cc

So the vintage rules for engines being pre-1955 limits your engine selection somewhat. The engine is bored and stroked to 750cc with special cast aluminium barrels and a billet crank shaft. We have to retain the original crank cases and heads to qualify for vintage class, everything else has been taylor made for the bike.

    Cheers,
    David "

Ah cool. So the class defines the start point. I was wondering. Makes a bit more sense now.

It all looks very cool. Anything that involves making your own vehicle is cool IMO and really nice that you are supporting them

    Thanks

Our Motorcycle Fuel Pump range is massive, so we enjoy the bikes as well
