YB Cosworth Powered PS13 Silvia... Well was, now being saved with a 2JZ

    Welcome to a new adventure.

I'm building this car for a friend with the intention of competing with it in the 2014 BDC.

I've only got about 5 weeks to get it done, So I'm probably setting myself up for a massive fail.

Thought some people may find it interesting anyway.

I'll upload progress as I go along.......

    How it arrived.

First important job, Removing all that crap off it.

My nice, If not very Orange... Blank Canvas.

As much as I love the cosworth. Surely Sticking with something Japanese would be much easier. Or going v8?

I like the idea,as I can relate to the cossie/rs turbo era,and I'm guessing some one has the YB set up already?
The money they command these days I wouldn't recommend going out and buying one and all the bits needed
My opinion is they are a very strong engine, loads of development done on the engine by various firms back in the day and still going on
and at least no VVT rattle and 'snap-o-matic' rockers to worry about and they sound nice , with the right parts they are capable of reliable big powers
Just the 'cossie' tax on the parts makes an SR (if you had to use one of them) a cheaper engine to rebuild/get parts for
Its different and I like different

The car is already running with the YB, the owner had i laying around so fitted it to the car. i just think in the long run the sr would be a better option but its not my build lol i hope it gets sorted and runs good. i will follow the build all the same

    Status Update !

Just to clarify the current status.

The dude who owns the car has had the YB Engine running in the car as it was left over from some crappy sierra or something.

I got the car a little while ago to re-install the Engine and bring it up to BDC Spec.

After about a year of me campaigning him to not haemorrhage money into a Thirty year old Dinosaur of an Engine, He finally came around and agreed to let me put a proper engine in the shell.

I copied and pasted out of photo bucket, and inadvertently added the title as well.

The title of the Build thread should read: 2JZ Powered PS13 Silvia.

That should give you an idea of the new direction of the project.

I only started installing the 2JZ on Thursday, So I'll update the thread from then.

Hmmm ok this got a lot more interesting,so the turbo charged fire engine water pump has gone
Good choice with the 2jz,nice solid base for bigger powers than the yb could manage reliably

It's definitely got interesting, This is one of Four projects I'm juggling at the moment.

Completely stock 2JZ to start with, But with Six Pot Torque and Instant Power from the Twins it should be pretty sweet.

I will spare everyone the details of me re-fitting the YB, only to rip it all out again, And jump straight into the JZ fitment.

YB gone, ready for some JDM Coolness.

The new arrival..... This has been a long time coming.

I'm using my spare block as it's more manageable than the complete engine.

I got the shell Square and Level before squaring up the block.

Started building some Mounts straight onto the Front Cradle.

Fabricated the Gearbox Mount out of bits I had laying around.

The finished item, Incorporating additional Chassis Brace.
