I don't think the OP is worried about having ball joints, more the fact that the mot now classes broken or missing ball joint covers as a fail... And the majority of aftetmarket arms don't have rubbers on them - my driftworks 4arm kit doesn't - would that for instance count as a fail?
ALso, should you fit your own covers as linked above, would they then be testable?

I personally am not worrying yet, but I think thats what the thread starter is getting at.

Or just buy the arms with rubber joints instead of rose joints. That's what I use as it saves a load of maintenance and worry about the rose joints seizing etc.

That's a very valid point if its a road car.

    - my car's an infrequent road car, mostly a hovering above drive on stands.

I completely agree with you both... however, for those of us who already have rose joints (me for one), I wonder where we stand with the updated testing.

I would think as they aren't ball joints, they're a sealed self lubricating unit that we should be fine.

If you already have them, I don't see an issue with having rose joints for an MOT providing they are in good working order. If I still had mine I would get some of the boots to keep them clean I used to use the car all year round so the threads and the rose soon got knackered
