    Speaker/Audio questions

Right so now I've come round to the idea of amping up my front speakers, just got a few questions,

    1. Has anyone ever put 20cm speakers in s13 front doors and got it neat with the door cards?

    2. The reason i ask is because i absolutely loved the tse2096 pioneers i put in my Celica, 3 way 90w rms 300w max, sounded crystal clear (imo) ran off 60x4 alpine hu. Question is did those speakers sound so good because they were 3 way? 90w rms?(prob not this one as i know now that hu rms is not 60) or because they were 20cm? Or just simply good quality?

    3. Is there any reason to try and fit 20cm's in there or are these which i discovered http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/prod...er_p-20289.htm nearly as good @ 60w rms and 17cm? Those are discontinued and maybe hard to get hold of, of course there are other pioneers out there, tse1702is, 2 way tho, 60w, advice people cheers

i would recommend some 6.5inch components. but if your set on your pioneers just use them.

you will need an adapter plate or just make up an MDF ring.

i avoided doing this, as i did it in all my previous cars and couldn't be arsed in a car where SQ was never going to happen unless adding a lot of weight.

if you have the speaker pods in the S13, i just used some 2way 6x4's (only 25w RMS) but nicely amped. and they sound good enough for a stripped S13.

i also have some 6.5 midbass drivers in the rear shelf, i have a sub where the rear seats used to be in an MDF panel. it provides a nice thud, but not the boom you would expect from a bass box, as it has no box.

S13 pods i binned as i made mdf brackets when i put my 6.5 pioneers in, my current speakers are pioneer tsa1713i, which are 2 way 35w rms, but as said they are not as good as the 20cm tse2096 i had, dont have the 20cm anymore they went with my old car, so firstly i'll amp what i've got and see what i think, but main question is about speakers, if i were to buy new ones, is there any point in the hassle of squeezing 20cm in there or would the 17cm tse1796 http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/prod...er_p-20289.htm be almost as good as they are still 3 way?

Also when u say components, i dont wanna fit seperate tweeters so am i therefore not better off with coaxial?

If u dont wanna fit tweeters then yes. But in an s13 thats such a joke. U just put them in the trim that covers your door mirror wires. Having the tweeter at almost ear height is much betyer than floor level. This will make the system appear so much louder than it actually is.

But if u cba then i know that feeling lol. Amp what u got and see. 3way coax are just 3 seperate speakers playing diff frequencies. Look at a proper 3way speaker system. Its 2mid drivers and a tweeter. Not two tweeters and a driver. 2way coaxs are fine.

Thats down to the speakers. Not 3way or 2way. It really is 2mins work putting a tweeter in the door. It only runs back to the crossover than u put next to the door speaker.

Wired my front speakers to the amp, i had to bridge the amp to make them work as on 1 channel they were very very very quiet!

Anyways, connected it back to the way i had it before as i wasn't impressed with the results, at first the speakers were louder even on a low volume, up high there was distortion tho so i turned down the gain control, turned up the stereo back to the loudest volume id listen at and its sounds hardly any different...

For comparison, my old pioneer 3 way 20cm tse2096 connected to an alpine 60x4 was much better and clearer sound

Its very difficult for me to put my energy into this when it honestly makes me feel down.

    Where are you located?

If yor having to bridge 2channels to power simple door speakers then therea a serious problem mate.

Unless my amps total trash, yes i bridged 2 channels as there wasnt enough volume to serenade a mouse with 2 speakers to 1 channel
