    Smile Monkey's Z3

On Saturday I took the long drive to Southampton to detail Monkey's Z3. The paint is in decent condition for a 15 year old car, but it was in need of some Detailing Jem TLC. I'll let the pictures do most of the talking:

This was on the bonnet, and looked like some sort of etching through the clearcoat down to the basecoat.

This was touched in with a touch up kit (base and clear), allowed to dry leaving this:

Once this was fully hardened the area was carefully wet sanded to level the paint leaving this, which while far from perfect is a lot less eye catching than before:

The doors had had some sort of bump strip on them, which had already been removed, but had left a nice line of sticky goo:

And as commonly found on soft tops, a light case of vegetation was starting to take hold:

So after a day of cleaning, polishing and protecting, Monkey had a very shiny car and a big grin

Nice work as always Jem. Tell me, what did you use to remove the residue from the door? I've tried loads of options on my car and there's still some left.

Autosmart Tardis is the daddy for tar and glue. But if its a hard glue like epoxy not a lot will shift it.

It's sticky shire left over from a set of wind deflectors that were on when I got it. Horrible stuff.

Try Autoglym Tar Remover, it's pretty good on glue. Also worth trying WD40

Yeah that did impress me. I know BMW interiors wear well, but yours has been very well looked after indeed.
