    Rear clunk/knock identification.

Evening! Been out in my s14a tonight an have a new clunking noises coming from
    The rear passenger side.

As I drive and let off the accelerator it starts to clunk and bang.
Also does it when not in gear and moving along. When I'm on the brakes it goes most of the way and if I pull the handbrake up it stops pretty much completely.

I don't have a welded diff, all wheel bolts are tight. Wheels are all balanced sweet.
, it's not the exhaust hitting on anything. However I do
Have apex gen2 coilovers and I have seen a thread claiming they bang around a bit but I'm fairly sure it's not them and it's something to do with
    The handbrake setup?

    Any help would be great!
    Sam

Lol technical, is it not one of the cables brake pipes swinging about? Or a pad sliding about in the caliper??

    A sound file would help
Or a better description of the actual noise
Rattle bang loud quiet continuous or one bang etc etc

I don't think it's the coilovers as they would clunk when turning not just when slowing down.
They are also less than 6months old with only a few thousand miles on them!

It is a donk noise.... Haha pretty hard to describe on a forum!
As I slow down the rate of the donk also slows down!

I will just get a closer look at the handbrake setup tonight and see what I can find!
    Thanks!

So basically you mean the noise is repeatative and is in sync with how fast the wheels are turning?

If so and it's limited to the one corner then surely this has to be hub/bearing/brake related??

That's what I was thinking... Although the fact I apply the handbrake stops it leads me to that!
Thanks though! Will also look at that later!

6 month old gen 2's hmmm. mine clunked from day 1 after fitting them, its a common fault with gen 1's and i guess they havnt solved it with the 2's. Try removing the damper adjustment cap and tightening the bolt with an allen key and spanner, it's a freaking pain to do on the rear ones but worked for me.

If it is a repetitive noise then what James_S15 said is prob the issue.

Will apex not refund you or swap new units? Seems strange, they must come with a warranty of some sort?
Really hoping the noise is a brake/bearing issue, will get home from work and investigate in a bit!

if the handbrake is fixing it i would remove the wheel and chekc everything is tight and nothing it rattling about first too, coiolver will generally knowck over small bumps etc not on smooth flat tarmac. if you have any such tarmac near you drive down that and see if the noise goes.
