Minimum thickness on plain 315mm discs from big brake kit?

    Hi Dan,

I got a big brake kit from you a few years back and was wondering if you could tell me what the minimum rotor thinckness is for the plain 315mm discs? I know that this info was originally stamped on the outer edge of the discs but corrosion has made this long since unreadable. I need to check this out before I get on my first track day of the year.

Also could you give me prices for the following.
    2x front 315mm dics
    2x rear standard discs
full set of EBC yellow stuff pads (front and rear).

    Many thanks

    Chris

    Thanks for the reply Dan,

I plan on getting this stuff as soon as I can sneak the order to you without my wife noticing. What's the best way of paying for it (2x front 315mm groved discs, 2x rear standard size grooved discs and a full set of yellow stuff pads (front and rear)) - that little lot comes to £419 according to the above prices. And what is shipping going to cost?

    Many thanks once again

    Chris

    Hello Dan,

Cheers - I'll try and ring you later today.

The thing that is really worrying me is that I told my wife about the fact that I wanted to purchase this stuff last night and she said 'OK'. That sort of response has never happened before and to be honest I'm a little frightened right now. Whatever her motivation is it's either going to end up being very expensive or very painful.

    Hi Chris

Too be fair Wifes/Girlfriends tend not to argue with brakes etc as they are safety items and it just means they care

If it's easier I have made a link here that you can just buy on the website:-
    http://www.db-power.co.uk/index.php?cPath=387

    Just purchase your username

Thanks for that Dan - just one last thing. If I order via your website can I select delivery to a different address to my home/invoice address? I didn't have to worry about his when I originally purchased the big brake kit from you (which was almost exactly 5 years ago now) - I paid by cheque back then so shipping to an alternative address wasnt an issue.

    Cheers

Don't worry about any little delay Dan. I'm in no mad rush for these bits (it was just a case of me ordering before I spent the money on something else). Put my bits on the bottom of the 'to do' pile if it makes your life any easier for a little while.
I'd assumed that the discs were bought in pre-grooved by you - didn't realise that you had to have that machining work done yourself.

It works out better that way that way I can get my own style made which seems to work much better than straight cut discs

    Hi Dan,

Brakes arrived last week (during my week off work, so only got to them myself today) and look good - many thanks.

One last question for you (and sorry if you've answered this one many times before) - what do you recommend for the orientation of the grooves with the direction of the wheel rotation?

If you imagine that the start is this sentence is direction that the car is travelling towards (from right to left across the screen) then when you look at the top of the disc should the groove slope backwards / or forwards \ ?

I've always thought that / was the right orientation for the grooves at the top of the disc for a car travelling <<<<< but have now seen too many discs fitted with the grooves the other way around (including some OEM fitments on very expensive cars) for me to assume anything anymore.

    Cheers

    Chris

    Hi Chris

You want them like this on the drivers side \\\\\\ (on the top so streamlined to the wheel direction)

OK Dan - so that's the opposite orientation to the grooves shown on this one (which is the second image to your '2012 Massive Big Brake Group Buy' thread)
