    SR20 coffee table

So i should be moving into my new house in a month or so, so i decided i would add abit of me into the decorating and decided i wanted to build an SR20 table.. now having a few spare engines laying around helps..

so i got a spare block oilpump waterpump empty head and cover and made a base from MDF :-

looking at it and having some feedback of facebook i decided the block alone would be better and a more usable hight..

wanting to make the base abit more car and less DIY plus learn some new skills i baught some of everybodys favourite stuff, carbon fiber

so after some experimenting with flow coats, resins sanpaper and messing i got a relitivly good finish on it

not bad for my first go at it i dont think..

and today my engine came back from being shot blasted ready for a coat silver

so i have meassured up for my glass and next week should be ordering that so fingers crossed a few weeks and it will be the finished article. im pritty happy with how its come out so far.

it will just have some chrome standoffs to bring the glass upto the top of the standard nissan headstuds which will be used to bolt the glass down..

    thanks for the positive comments..

i have some spare cams and camgears that would make some kick ass candle sticks but you would need a grand table to pull them off as there quite tall..

sorry, the sand blasting left it quite matt i wanted it vapour blasting but its mega money and the only places that do it seem to be down south! that would have left it looking slightly duller that the finish i have now but without the need for paint..

im thinking of hiding some LEDS in the base so the bores glow the only problem is power i dont want a power lead running from it making it look untidy

Lights would be awesome! But I think you could rethink the power and just run it on battery. Mount a slim (think motorbike battery) and some low power LEDs and then mount a switch in the oil pressure switch hole. Job done! Battery should last ages!
