Power FC ecu buzzing ?? when ign off ?? relay ? Help need urgently

Arrived to work today, car driving away fine etc ...

turned off car went into work , came out bout 2 hours later, hear this crazy buzzing from the ECU ... a relay maybe ?

buzzing only happens when the ign is off, car starts and runs fine ??

disconnected the battery so not to blow the replay or do any more damage ??

any 1 any ideas ... can hear a slight noise from the coil pack closest the bulkhead too ?? this shouldn't be getting power with the ign off right ??

sure its your ecu and not the eccs and fuel pump relays behind it? (assuming your ecu is in same pos as s14 one in passenger footwell.

wheel arch loom gets rubbed through if the car is lowered. this shorts out the wiring to the above relays, causing all sorts of weird problems. low voltage on the coils of the relay would cause it to chatter constantly.
i speak from experiance of a similar prob with my s14.

don't recall any relays being in the powerfc?

If you un clip the plastic from the side of the passenger foot well, get it to do it again and put ur hand on the ecu to make sure it is that buzzing

right said id follow this up .... well after leaving the car sit all week , battery disconnected ... set about getting the ecu out so i could hear what was making the noise ... reconnected the battery ... and nothing , no clattering any more .... turned on the car etc, and have been driving round a few days leaving the ecu free and still all good .... battery had come a bit loose too . so tightened that up ...checked wireing in wings and all seemed ok .

bought coilpacks in the mean time as i needed them anyways .

prob re-occured !! so left it hammering away and got to finding what exactly was making the noise ... seems it wasnt the ECU ... it was this ( a relay i take it - the brown part disconnected in the below pic )

Yep looks like it will be getting the chop then.

do you know if there is anything important on the loom that runs down the passenger side of the car as its just been chopped so the only thing I have left is the wire for the sensor on the passenger door and the wring that powers the window and mirror can you think of anything else?

Off the top of my head it was the abs control and radio ariel in the boot on that side the lights and diff was on the driver side looms.

There's a bit that joins across to the switches on the centre console, you might want to leave that.

yeah I've left all of that minus the audio stuff its amazing how little is left :O

just got to relocate the fuse box/ make the headlight loom longer. I think it will be better to run the battery cable straight to a connection box that splits to the starter, alternator and the fuse box.

Don't forget that the horn wiring is included with the airbag wiring (yellow trunking) so if you've ripped all that out the horn won't work...

I don't seem to have the airbag wiring at all i mean it wasn't with the rest of the the loom is it normally separate?

Do you know if the passenger side door shut sensor is as the blue and red wire just goes to the plug under the seat switched earth? Earths is when the door is shut?
