Forgot you worked there! hate the place myself, when i was looking for a bike,i waited 40 mins to get attention, then only had someone offering to help me when i started cycling round the shop!

You only need two tools in life - wd-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the wd-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
And if you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem!

Lots of great looking bikes in this thread.
As there appears to be a lot of enthusiasts kicking around here I'd appreciate your thoughts... I'm considering getting a new hardtail MTB and a little lost as to what's a good make to go for these days? The last time I bought a bike was back in 1997 so I'm a little bit out of touch.
One bike that has caught my eye is this...

Are Cube any good, worth the money? They weren't around in 1997! Any other recommendations welcome, budget is around £500 to £800.
For info - I much prefer to ride off road and get caked in mud but I want something that I can switch tyres over and waft along when need be.
Cloudy!!
Image wheels = Winner
You what's your best price people can kiss my shiney metal arse
The cubes a nice and well specced bike, but they have a lot of shifting and hub issues! at least my 3 mates with them have had trouble anyway! in fact i've just spent the last 2 hours trying to sort one and failed!
Specialised rockhopper pro would get my vote, last years model can be had for around £540 too![]()

Also whilst i am here,i have the basic rockhopper with the suntour sr front fork, and i hate it!it fills up with water all the time and gives hydrolock!
can anyone tell me what forks or sizes i need as i would love to upgrade to at least a second hand rockshox or fox shock!(Any ebay links would be appreciated, looking to spend up to £80,maybe a tad more for a fox!)![]()

I brought a new bike well I say new I demo'd a trek remedy and a intense they was nice but nothing special. SO I decided to buy my favourite bike of all time a Specialized Enduro the old 05/06 model with the 5 element shock. When I got the bike the shock had no damping ie the rebound was stupidly quick but as they don't make 5th elements the parts are rare in the uk so I sent it to canada who rebuilt it and it works perfect now
I'm still getting it right and have got to get a new headset and I want SLX or XT cranks I will take some photos but its not very flashly like a lot of the bikes in this thread![]()

Most of them have the same size steerer tube, but no not all forks are universal!
Some have a tapered steerer tube, but these are still new, some have a 1' steerer tube but these are very old. As I said before just watch out for the length of the steerer tube when buying second hand ones as some will be to short for your bike. And don't get one that's been threaded but again they are usually old too.
These should fit only a 20mm lift too http://www.thegorillafirm.com/bikes/...bikes/mountain
Cheers Tom,yep i know what you mean about the length, specialized frame is big too at the front! £150's a tad more than i was hoping to pay too! but thanks for the link!![]()

Very nice bikes
This is my daily hack. It was a piece of crap, but I've changed the handlebar stem, handlebars, shifters, grips, pedals, seat pin, saddle, brakes, brake levers, rear mech, tyres, front forks and added the handlebar ends, so most of it has been upgradedIt rides pretty well now
