I've seen a lot of taxi drivers with a piece of cardboard over their radiator grills in this weather, looks

Perhaps you could try that. I'm afraid thats all the advice I can give at this point in time.

It's definately possible to knacker them from overheating, i can testify to that.

Missed this, bet thats whats happened to mine
Remember I bought it with a knackered water pump, and only the promise it wasnt driven once it broke. Its my worry, but has done 1000 miles now, with nothing showing up.

I've got a stat job for tomorrow if I can get my ass into action early enough

    Me too

and id ignore the advice about the jiggle pin personally as the air locks never happen at the stat, they happen at the highest part of the system, the heater matrix.
Ive generally had to replace the stat on my 200 once a year, no matter where ive bought the stat.

All the slightly differant faults on this thread are stat's imo

The jiggle pin thing is useful when it comes to filling the coolant system, if the stat is air tight, or even nearly air tight it's damned hard work getting the water in.

    Another correct SXOC diagnosis

After reading around, I was surprised to find about 30 threads for this, and not a single pic.

It is an easy job, but I always like to see pics, then I know what to expect.

Its this you need to take off

Sounds like a comman fault, mines only a few months old

    FYI
Just bought a thermostat for my 1989 S13 from Nissan's and with a 10% discount for flashing the sxoc card price is £8.60 inc VAT dunno how that compares with halfrauds prices etc
