The white / red stripe wire comes from the SMJ, not the the ecu or f1 plug. I ended up wiring it straight from the alternator plug to the dash. Works fine. Thanks for your help.

Thanks, it'll be this one "white/red stripe- alternator voltage dummy light". Hopefully it's the same colour at the F1 connecter, i'll check when i'm home.
