It's only a press demo, only 2 cars and 1 track but my god ... it sounds beautiful, you really need some decent speakers or headphones cranked RIGHT up. The suspension you can almost feel, heading for a wall induces a feeling of .... uh oh this is going to hurt! and the first time I actually braced for impact!!

Have a go, you WON'T be disappointed!

not the full version!!! i think the huge download is due to the pysics engine and track detail... VERY bumpy track! oh... and turn off the auto clutch and see if you can pull away without stalling or spinning out of contrl!!!

the full game is schedulled for a full release some time soon... but no firm date yet :(

Assuming this is the same version of the demo I D/L'd a couple of months ago, it says it'll be out 'late summer 2004'

Please Please Please Please! :Plug:

I Lurve the Morgans engine note, esp when you're trailing the throttle :smitten:

The result?

I'm now only a second slower in the Morgan using my wheel compared to the pad :wack: :smash:
Think I'll concentrate on the pad next time

While doing this I did manage to set the Morgan on fire however! :wack:
I think that's an effect they need to work on, as it looks terrible

I just spent a good amount of time with it, not really racing but feeling the cars. It's good, looks and sounds great... but I hate to say it... LFS is better.

The traction is not progressive enough. When you loose a little traction there is no feel as to what the back end does. In LFS you can feel how much traction you are loosing and compensate faster.

Braking is good, but again it lacks feel. I notice from replays that different wheels are locking up, but I just dont feel the car twitch when say the rear left locks up because it's loaded due to me turning in too early under braking.

I also found that I couldn't balance the car on the throttle very well. In LFS if i'm understeering because of a poor line I can use more lock and throttle to bleed off a little speed and bring the nose in.

Maybe i've just not given it enough time but whilst it looks and sounds superb. The feeling of speed is FAR better than LFS, the important points of feeling the car just are not there yet... hopefully they will sort it out and boy then it would be the best ever.

Si:

I know what you're saying, but maybe thats what the real GT cars are like? I can't see them reacting in the same way a road car does for instance :)

I thought the feeling of speed in this was one of it's best bits, I genuinely felt like I was doing 160mph

Give it some more time :)

I think it's quite representative of GT racing really
I mean when was the last time you saw one cornering sideways?
As with most modern motorsport it's just not done any more, I agree that it should be though :(
Still, going by footage of modern GT's from inside the car, they do seem to handle very accurately :)

A few adjustments to the setup should make the car far more user friendly, even if you just knock some downforce off, and add a bit of castor

Finally plugged in and set up my joypad, managed a 2.23.2 in the Lister Storm in Simulation mode..... more time to come off as I had "some aero damage"

Need to tweak the sensitivity of the brake / throttle a little more I think, felt a bit digital.

Bri.

yeager
10-07-2004, 14:48
Just ran a 2:19.8, I am using the Semi Pro because the aids are helping me find the braking points and get the line right instead of spinning out.

I've found that I can't use power to correct understeer but am having to left foot brake which works a treat. If i'm offline on entry carring a tad too much speed, a few taps on the brakes whilst under power and the nose moves onto line nicely.

One bit of feedback missing is the force feedback going lighter under weight transfer mid corner off thottle... but it's still only a demo and VERY good.

Sounds like you're in the setup bit at the track.
It's in the bit before you load the track. ;)
First you select Pro or semi pro, whichever you want to use.
I think you select 'car' on the tabs along the bottom, and then you'll get a list appear on the right of the screen.
Select 'class' : You should then see 'full grid' 'GT' and 'nGT'

Click on GT for the Lister and nGT for the Morgan
