Just had AVG flash up a box on screen as below:

This computer (at work) already has Norton on it, but somehow needs a password to run it (which I do not have). Last week, put AVGfree on it, just in case.
Is this a real netsky, or is it AVG trying to do nasty things to Norton ?

It could be AVG scanning a file that Norton had Quarantined and as such, not a threat... best to check with your network administrator... but then hes not gonna be a happy bunny about you putting anothr anti virus program on...

BTW Norton Corporate does pick up all netsky varients (as long as its upto date ;)

Problem is, the nearest thing to a network administrator around here, is me.

edit - The Norton will have come with the pc when it was bought last year (from a firm who sets them up for me). Have been meaning to ask them for the Norton password - which is only needed on this one of five computers. But, it's always been tomorrow's job.

Am curious how Netsky spreads now.

I ran AVG last Friday (clean) and am the only person who has used this pc in the meantime. Get lots of viagra and pills type spam, but no attachments at all have been opened.

mmmmmmmmm That was the one related word I hadn't tried :humiliated but grateful:

OK, so I can now uninstall AVG, and if this 'virus' is a quarantined Norton file, all is well.

Cheers Matt

no worries :)

you might want to set norton to delete files it cant clean... a little more secure... the default is to either quarantine or leave alone
