Borrox...big pothole + new (to me) 17s = little buckle and kerbing on the inside of the rim..

I'm feeling pretty sick to the stomach because these are early 90s German AEZ rims and I can't replace them, I'm going to write to my council to complain and request compensation, but the fact still remains that they're damaged.

I've had a wheel that was just buckled on the outside lip repaired before, but when it's spread to the inside of the wheel slightly I imagine it makes it a whole lot harder to fix.

So, has anybody had a similar experience and actually got compensation, and can anybody recommend a good place to fix it? I've used a place in Birmingham before, but the end result, although perfectly OK, wasn't "Perfect" as they told me it would be. Took bloody ages too.

managed to kill the sidewall on a new tyre on my mums micra on a pothole down a country road on the way out of the village i used to live in

wrote to the council with the details, they denied the road existed and had the potholes repaired before i could get photographic evidence, argued with them by letter for about a month then gave up

Be persistent with the council - and don't just take there please detail it and send a written complaint in!!

Go through to the highways department - get a name and get a reference number. Before you get a council official person to view the road make sure you have a witness to pot hole / photographs etc etc measurements.

Also maybe report it to police for incident number? dangerous road or summit ?

The only way you will win is to be persistent and make sure you bug em daily for answers, as soon as you give up the fight they've won

Keep receipts of repairs - pictures of before - after damage and after refurb etc

as above.

but in addition they will have to pay out. they no this but they drag cases on for ages.

dont expect a quick settlement as they take forever.

and pictures are a must, and get a credible witness too such as a police officer or someone willing to varify the facts.

Ugggh....

Before I contact them I'll make sure I get lots of photographs, don't know who I'll use as a witness though. I guess I could ask Craig from here, since he's a copper so probably the best bet.

It's lucky the damage is on the inside rather than the outside edge, so if it's a little scuffed it's not the biggest deal, just the bend bothers me.

This sounds like it's going to be an exercise in banging my head against the wall anyway.
