FINALLY got my new car on Saturday. Mucho fun to be had - raced a DB7 last night and beat it http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif. The acceleration from 4000 up (when the 2nd turbo kicks in) in simply *brutal*!

And while Im here, whats the insurance like mate?

Keith_C

It's a 6sp manual, yes. Intending to take it track-days and things - and mod it a fair bit http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/wink.gif

It's gota few things on it at the moment, 18's, Mongoose, decatted, couple of other things (did someone say EVC? http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/wink.gif)

It seems to have a boost leak somewhere at the moment, so I've got to find that. Still, I'll be taking it to the Bolney meet if anyone is going.

Insurance is about £950FC, 3yr NCB, 3 points, 22. Not bad http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif

What company is that with mate?? Im paying £882 on a "standard" S13 - Im 23 with 3 yrs NCB, drivewayed
And they want another £120 for the air filter http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/eek.gif
I cant get another company to touch me for less than £1300 http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif
It seems a little unfair that you can get your fire breathing beasty insured for less money really, doesnt it? http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif

That's with www.elephant.co.uk (http://www.elephant.co.uk)

I paid £821FC last year on my 89T Supra, and the policy for that runs out in Jan. I'd be paying again this year if not for the points http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif

I simply did a 'change of car' and they only wanted £65 extra, and that was with the wheels and exhaust declared. The boost controller is coming off anyway, as I can't insure it at all with that fitted - likewise the HKS BOV. I think the pair are conspiring to give me a boost leak anyway as I'm only getting standard boost (11psi) when it should be higher.

Give Elephant a try. A trick that works is to add you Mum/Dad/similar aged relative as a named driver - bought my premium down by about £200.

I just tried elephant and the rough quote is half what I am paying.

Just off to phone my insurance co.....

Keith_C

Whoa! Run a full quote first. The rough quote can vary wildly from the real quote for us younger drivers. My rough was about £800, the real £950, so run a full quote first. Don't worry, you don't have to commit to anything.

Got a quote off of Elephant, stuck the old chap down as a named driver and its £300 less than what I was paying!!! With the filter declared!!
And I get a few benefits that tesco didnt offer!! WOOHOO!!
Added note: While asking Tesco what it would cost for me to cancel my insurance (I did the auto-renew thing at the end of last month) I discovered that they hadnt actually renewed my insurance. Saved me 80 odd quid, but if I had had a stack ...........
Anyways - pints for you when I meet you matey, although mebbe not £300 worth http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/wink.gif

It set me back £12,500! Ouch, but it's nearly *perfect* in and out.

Dunno how much power it's got. 326bhp/325lbft is standard power, and with the exhaust and decat that ups it by a dozen or so. I'm calling it 340bhp, as I'd rather measure low and look modest than be high and look like a Lacks Power reader (honest - these seat-belt pads and neons give me 9486490870697bhp). I just missed getting it for the RR day, otherwise I'd have thrown it on the rollers to find out.

As I got a ticket on the *very* last day I had my MKIII (which Dave now has), I've so far driven everywhere at 70-80mph http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif Aside from that DB7 bit of course http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/wink.gif I'm also being *very* carful with the pedal at the mo! http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif

Elephant pants for me £850 (no mods), 771 with me dad.

£200 more than Tesco, and wouldn't let me put my mods on, said unable to insure and listed 2 mods (I only declared 4) so I took em all off).

£12.5K, could have got a proper Skyline for that, Well R33 GTR V-spec. I'm just jealous really. http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif

It had 56000 on it when I got it. It's nearly at 57000 now http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/wink.gif That's unusually low though, especially for a UK-spec.

If you are seriously thinking of one (or anyone), go to www.mkivsupra.net (http://www.mkivsupra.net) and www.supras.co.uk (http://www.supras.co.uk) - they can give you lots of info about what to consider/look for.
